North Cackelacky...FINALLY.
Tractor
None right now...
Finally after having our tractor for a few years we got a bushhog today.
Having an issue however.Our tractor is a 40 industrial,similar to a 135.
Mower is a 5' model Bushhog with a PTO shaft for a 4'-5' model according to the tag.

Problem is,either the PTO shaft is too short or the lift arms are too long.REALLY don't want to shell out $300 for another PTO shaft if it can be helped so could the lift arms be swapped out?

The arms are 37'' eye to eye, reading online a 135 takes a shorter arm and Tractor supply carries one that is 32'' long eye to eye.

I am also hoping that having shorter lift arms would help out with keeping the front of the mower higher too,I am pretty much out of adjustment on the arms.

Hope this makes sense as this is all new to us....:D

If it's a new bush hog you got, contact your dealer. They may have put the wrong driveline on the cutter when they sold it to you. Trust me, it happens. I had it happen to me one time while buying a new Bush Hog. Luckily, I caught it at the dealer before I left...

No it was a used one unfortunately.

Sounds like you need a longer PTO driveline. They make all different lengths and sizes.... I wonder if some sort of "adapter" would work on the end of the tractor's PTO shaft?? Something SIMILAR to an over-running coupler/clutch?

I think you should contact a tractor parts store or the manufacturer of the brand of cutter you have to see what kind of driveline should be on the cutter. Maybe there's a local dealer around who carries the brand of cutter you have?

I hope this helps. I know you'll eventually get everything corrected. Post back when you find the solution.

I would NOT modify the tractor to the implement (cutter).

Will try an extender first,if that doesn't work will try a new PTO shaft.
Thanks for the reply.

Okay found something at good old TSC that worked...although I still need to figure out a few things I cut some of the undergrowth down.

Now my problem is the tractor has stopped....:(
Full of fuel, turns over fine, doesn't seem to be running hot but simply won't start.

I am thinking since it ran out of fuel a little while back it picked up some trash in the tank, but who knows..

Any suggestions????

Diesel,I am thinking it is in the fuel lines or tank...just another thing to work on.

You may have air pockets in your fuel line if you ran your tractor out of fuel. You may need to bleed your fuel system to restore starting.

Remember to check that the slip clutch on the brush hog can slip and the tension nuts are correctly set.
