Finally bought an L5450

I would say that the o-ring on the 3-pt piston is worn out. Not that big of a deal to replace.

Thanks for the reply Brian. I would like to tackle this myself, and have ordered a kubota wsm manual off of eBay for this tractor. I am noticing a few leaks in and around the left side linkage on the rear of the machine. Where do I find the actual piston and o-ring?

Under the seat. There is a roundish cover with 6 bolts holding it on. The piston is under the cover. You'll want to take any implement off the 3-pt beforehand. After the cover is off I usually lift and lower the arms by hand several times and the rod on the rockshaft will push the piston out far enough to grab it by hand and pull it the rest of the way out. From there it's pretty obvious on replacing the o-ring.

Thanks so much Brian. I've located the cover and plan to disassemble tomorrow. Hopefully my local dealer will have the part needed handy.

My L5450 is used more than I would have imaged when I bought it 3 years ago with 200 something hours. Very solid tractor. Replacing fence posts in the attached picture.

Very nice machine, Lonestar, may I ask what you paid for it?

Machine was listed for $13,500. I was able to negotiate a little off of the asking price. I'm very very pleased thus far. I will be replacing a few hydraulic lines on the loader as a precautionary measure and she should be ready to go once I get the 3pt hitch issue addressed.

Good score! That's truly a bragging price for what looks like an excellent machine.

Yep, I agree with newbury, you have a "strong' work horse there.
Once you get the bugs out, you'll be good to go.

The engine on these is a smooth running 5cyl, normally aspirated with fuel sipping characteristics, A very good engine with easy low temp starting ability. I don't even have to glow down into single F digits.
