I'm looking at a Fimco 3 point 40 gallon sprayer. It's got a 10' boom. I've got about 15 acres that need to be killed off with Glyphosate this spring. Anyone have any experience with this brand? Comments? It's $440

i have one, but its the lg55. i believe it has a 55 gallon tank though and twin rear booms . the total boom spread on mine is just about 12 feet i have found while using it. i've had it for 4 years, and its worked flawlessly. only thing i found out is to remove the lower plastic filter bowl when storing in cold climate...cause they shatter. also on mine, i had a few flawed welds...not enough penetration on the steel. i was going to fix it myself, but decided to let the dealer do it under warranty. i noticed the separation when filled with water. now that was 4 years ago, and there is no problem with it since.

I have a Fimco with a 55 gallon tank and a 11+ ft boom I've been using on my 60 acre pastures for 6 years. It's a good sprayer. If you're going to use it for glysophate regularly, you'll need to get the special silver colored pump that's resisitant to the acidic glysophate.

There is also a 55 gallon fimco sprayer available however it doesnt come with a pump. Would the Hypro 6 roller PTO pump work for it?

Be sure and hose off the back of your tractor after each use. Also run oil through pump when storing. Boom arms are a little flimsy in my opinion.
Definately get the Silver(ie more expensive pump) pump if spraying round up.
Good set-up overall

Do i really need the silver pump if I'm only going to run round up through it at the most 3 times?

i have the black colored pump on mine...use round up and hi-dep. have used it thru 4 seasons. has worked great. i use the neutralizer everytime i put it away. no leaks yet

I have the 60 gal model and am happy so far. Mine has the cheaper hypo pump and I just make sure it gets cleaned well. I use Nutra-Sol (I think thats the name) and then fill the pump with vegetable oil when storing. So far, so good.

Look at an Ag Spray 3 point hitch sprayer. Get the biggest tank your tractor will handle. Most of the spraying time is traming back and forth to refill. The one I bought does not have a boom but rather one nozzle on the back that sprays a path 20 ft. wide and does have a gun. That way you don't have to worry about tearing off a boom.
