Fighting 'Solar Farm' Installation

Of the several large scale solar systems in my area (I won't call them solar farms) none of the power is slated for this area it is all slated for NYC use.

Yep. My son went to Mount St. Mary’s University. Their campus had a 100+ acre solar farm. The power was used 50-100 miles away in Baltimore.
It’s a great/sneaky way for urban/city to punish country folks.

Put solar panels right in the cities, where they belong. They leave their lights on all night because of crime and to show off their buildings, so let them deal with the windmills and the solar panels.

Not a substantial consequence for what he did. He should have been dropped to patrolman along with a suspension. He definitely should not be a supervisor.

I would agree wind farms are are nuisance. Have you ever stood outside amongst operating wind turbines? North of Elwood, IN, is the largest wind farm I know of. Park beside the road and step out of the car. The incessant low level hum would drive me mad. Madder.

Ha! You should have driven west about 75 miles and you'd be in Fowler Ridge. It has about 350, and is one of the largest on-shore wind farms in the world.

And yes, I've driven out into the middle of it and stood there on the side of the road while our kids took pictures for a 4H fair project. We spent several hours there. I heard absolutely nothing but wind that would have been there anyway. I also felt no vibrations.

With that said, it's hideous.

I've probably driven next to it 50-60 times over the years in our travels down to Purdue and back when our kids were in college there. Day. Night. Morning. Evening. I could not see myself living near it. The constant motion all day. The constant red lights every couple of seconds all night. Yikes.

I ended up not getting a system because it didn’t pencil out for my situation, but I didn’t want one on my roof and was considering either putting them on post mounts, or even building a useful carport type structure using panels for the roof.

Similar to our thought process. The return on investment would have been too long. However, that was 10-15 years ago. Things may have changed. I'd have to look into it again.

We didn't want roof mount either. And that's the only place that's not obstructed by trees.

So, one could argue the solar farm is preserving soil underneath for future generations.

Your problem is that you expect others to honor your economic value system. The magic behind any healthy economic system is that one party values something more than another, and somehow makes that added value work. You raise cattle, then somebody comes along who values your ready-for-market cattle more than you do. You sell, and start over with calves.

I haven't seen it implemented but if the panels were 6' off the ground one might desire cattle grazing between the rows to keep the grass trimmed. Grass yield will not be as great as an open field, but "so what? resources being put to use."

A large solar farm has started here recently. They plan on planting pollinator plants for bees under it, and possibly sheep. I read somewhere that cattle would be too destructive, and the pastures would have to be maintained too much. Sheep are apparently less destructive. And bees make honey, and benefit the areas outside of the solar farm with pollination. We'll have to see how that pans out. Have to start somewhere. These local farmers are leasing the land to the solar company, so they're the ones taking the risks.

Yes, I've seen videos of it. Some poor folks had a dog that would chase the shadows across the house over and over again. Would drive me nuts.

With that said, we'd have to ask people that live in the wind farm how it affects them on a longterm basis.

No, when you are given permission for this by the sheriff, his say so goes. In the constitution no federal agency can be in any county or parish without the permission of the sheriff. Sheriff is highest elected official of each county. Your oath is to uphold the constitution.

A sheriff only enforces laws, doesn’t make laws.

The Sheriff had nothing to do with this. The buck stops at the Mishawaka Police Chief who had a conflict since he was a friend of the Lt. The video makes it hard to sweep it under the rug, but they can try.

When did the coroner come into existence? As compared to sheriff. I done been through a drug task force set up by Clinton. Sheriff was exposing it. Saw him get arrested. Coroner wouldn't touch it. They used state troopers. Sheriff is also a preacher. Still alive and well. No time in jail, kept serving as sheriff. There's folks around here that ain't flushed their commodes in 30 years because bill Clinton peed in it once.

You said the sheriff is the highest elected official in each county. I was merely pointing out that is not correct.

How people do their job has nothing to do with the actual hierarchy. Anyone can fail to do their job, or choose to not do their job, or be corrupted.

So when I'm on a job with a crane swinging a load of pipe over me and the crane operator is a dope head. I have had many log trucks full of logs picked up by crane. Whole load at once.
