OK, 10 for 10 but what is with the question about the first fighter jet in the Battle of Britain being the Spitfire?
They were initially fielded over England against V1's. In 1945 they were allowed to operate in Europe but not over German or Soviet controlled territory. There were no jet-on-jet dogfights.//I believe...and I'm speculating here...that the British jet...the Gloster Meteor...had little or no role in the Battle of Britain. I'm not even sure they were ready at that time, and they were reluctant to use them in dogfights anyway. I know they were used later on to shoot down the V1 rockets very effectively.
