Questions 4 and 5? I'd like to have some of whatever the writer was smoking. Spitfire a as a jet? Scout for a ?jet? fighter after WW1? Maybe if "after" means some 26 some years.

Anyone who answered that the primary purpose of fighters is "to attack ground targets" will never be promoted in the USAF.

Just give the A10's to the Army and get back to "Interdiction."

I forgot about the A-10 warthog question. Navy? I always thought it was Army but google only mentions AF.

Well, we figured that out quickly and muountedva 20 mm pod under the "d" model. The "E" had an internal gun. I was one of five lucky guys to fly a one of a kind configured E that we mounted two 20 mm pods under the wins plus the internal gun and flew single ship into north Vietnam as an armed fast fac. There is actually a website dedicated to the five of us and the aircraft. I being the youngest of the five flew the most missions . We flew at approx 100 feet and above 500 k. It was also a great platform for wiporking search and rescue. Fly that one day and chase mugs in a clean bird the next or go bombing . Yes the F4 was a great warbird.

I gave up when the answer was to a fighter jet was a Scout in WW1 when an earlier question was that a "jet" was first used in WW11. Then a Spitfire was a 'fighter jet'. That's when I knew this bozo didn't know squat about airplanes so why waste my time with the rest of his so-called quiz.

Thank You !! There was a centerline gatling gun we would hang on the F4D, but not used very much. Maybe due to a few nose gears being shot off while parked on the flightline !!

OK, 10 for 10 but what is with the question about the first fighter jet in the Battle of Britain being the Spitfire?

Actually the question didn't specify "Jet". The Spitfire is the sweetheart of the Battle of Britain, but in fact the Hurricane is credited with more kills than the Spitfire; largely because the Spitfires went after the German fighters, leaving the bombers to the Hurricanes. I believe...and I'm speculating here...that the British jet...the Gloster Meteor...had little or no role in the Battle of Britain. I'm not even sure they were ready at that time, and they were reluctant to use them in dogfights anyway. I know they were used later on to shoot down the V1 rockets very effectively.

They were initially fielded over England against V1's. In 1945 they were allowed to operate in Europe but not over German or Soviet controlled territory. There were no jet-on-jet dogfights.
