I would like some general opinion on this - locally this 7' Ferguson disc has come up for sale. The current owner was using it with his 8n. I would used it for previously worked dirt and rough grade around our house in preparation for grass seed. No ground breaking. Is this disc too big for my Massey 1734? With front loader and loaded rear tires I should be well over 3600 lbs

IMHO, if it was used with an 8N, it oughta work with your Massey. Probably made the 8N easy to steer, but your FEL should alleviate that issue.

I agree. Bare weight of 2-WD Ford 8n = 2,500 pounds (+/-). Bare weight of 4-WD MF1742 = 2,700 pounds.

I occasionally encounter original Ferguson implements in my area, unfortunately replicating implements I already own.

Ferguson implements were constructed of the finest materials in their day.

That’s a really nice disk. It’s interesting that there is adjustment in the gangs, something that isn’t found on newer implements.
