I'm still not driving yet Ronnie, fear is if I get a flat tire on these roads, I may not be able to change it myself safely.

Ernie, a question. When I get a loader and fit it to the FX235, where do I tap into the hydraulics?? I noticed while I was greasing today, that there is a block under the right side deck, (when sitting in the seat). There are two steel pipes with "banjo" fittings to this block, is that the "tap off" point for the pressure side??
Most of the hydraulic lines are on the left side of the tractor on the same side as the hydraulic filter.

I have always wondered why ALL loaders arent built that way.

It sure makes the tractor a lot more stable.

I also saw how close the Frey bucket was to the front of the tractor and I'll second Ernie's last comments. The closer the bucket is to the front axle, the lower the weight transfer on the front axle. The Koyker on my tractor has the bucket mounted out far enough it equals the wheelbase. Every pound in the bucket is 2 lbs on the front axle.

I have looked at the frey loaders also, But Frey tells me they do not make the mounting brackets for yanmars. Buck are you making your own brackets?

Wow Buck, just like Ernie (and Mickey) I saw an immediate and advantageous design in Frey's loaders. With their bucket fully flat and on the ground it's quite obvious that their front loader arms are nearly at 90° where most other manufacturers are at the lazy 45°.

If you're not quite sure of what to look at, check out the length and orientation of the dump/curl (front) hydraulic rams!

When I purchased a FEL from EFC for my F18D, Buck was selling pricipally Koykers. Because of the reach of the arms, there was some concern about load lifting capacity of the rig. So, Instead of installing a Koyker 120 (I think that was what was recommended by the manufacturer) he fabricated new brackets and installed a much shorter Koyker 80. Works fine, and has the additional (and more impotant) benefit of providing more room for my knees and feet. (I'm 6'6" tall and have size 15 shoes --"a good understanding")

After installing Koyker’s I truly appreciate the Frey loaders. We do build our own brackets for the Frey but we were building our own brackets for the Koyker’s anyway. On average we could get the loader 6" to 12" closer to the tractor if we built the brackets in house. With the Frey we can get the bucket even closer than that. maybe as much as 6 more inches. The only parts we were using from Koyker was the loader and bucket. Our hose kits are built in house and we use an American valve that has a lifetime warranty and that will stay the same with Frey.

For me it is not about increasing lift capacity so much, it is about limiting the stress the front axel has to endure. Also like you already know most of what we sell does not have power steering so the closer the better.

In a few weeks we will be mounting the new Vertex high lift Frey loader on our new Deutz 80 and 100hp for handling the big 4x4x8 bales of hay they use around here. Go to Frey’s web site and check out the video it is crazy. If you want I can post pics when we get it installed.

I just picked up an F16D and would love to see your setup. I was looking at a Koyker, but I am a bit worried about the distance in front of the front axle.

Also, which model Koyker did you go with? They are quoting the 120 for me, but now I'm thinking about going smaller to keep it as close as possible to the front axle.

TBN looks great! I used to have a 155d for a bunch of years We had the wheels stepped all the way out. What a crawler. That think was bullet-proof also. But, the person who bought my dad's hunting camp required it as part of the deal.

Thank you for the offer to come down & look, but a Maryland to Missouri drive isn't something I really have time to do at this point

Is there anything I need to look out for on this F16 besides the normal oil change, etc?

Vacation time, must be nice. Well enjoy. As to anything to look out for. Mine is pretty much bullet proof, also. Some parts can be hard to find. And expensive as they have to come from Japan. One of the dealers that post here can find what you need. One thing to watch is the radiator screen. It is in front of the radiator. Gets clogged easily when bushhogging. Check it often. Pulls out, so easily cleaned. Simple to work on if you have any mechanical knowledge.
