FEL Question

I have an Iseki 1910 and fab'ed a FEL for it. It looks like the Yanmars hydraulics are built about the same.

Can someone explain how to add power beyond? I asked elsewhere but don't quite understand. I get the connecting in/pby to the smaller pressure line (I think), but what about the out port? It was mentioned to run it back to the tank but how - and how would it attach?

I might be all wrong here - need help or better yet pics.

I am not familiar with your tractor but here are a few facts about your loader valve.

Assuming you have an open center hydraulic system where the pump is always pumping, if the loader valve has 3 ports (excluding the work ports) it most likely has power beyond capabilities. One port will be the pressure inlet from the pump. One port will be for the return to tank line and should connect directly to the tank/sump. Finally, one port will be the power beyond port and should be connected to the next valve in the hydraulic series circuit, usually the 3pt.

The loader valve should be marked as to what is what. If you tractor does not have a fixed hydraulic outlet block, you will have to figure out where the pressure line from the pump is and break into that to install the loader valve. Cut the line and connect the pump side or the line to the valve inlet port and the other side of the line to the power beyond port.

Connection fittings will vary from tractor to tractor so you are on your own there.

Mad - you are the one that helped out in the other thread. It's the third line I don't get. Here are two pics - the pump at the engine and the tank at the rear.

Also, what is the adjuster (?) I have pointed out?

I have installed a loader on one of the TS1910s and they hook up just like the tractor in this instruction-->

If your valve is an open center valve (it needs to be) you will not need to worry about the power beyond. It will just complicate things. The koyker loaders come with that port plugged I believe.

Follow HoyeTractor's instructions. If your loader valve does have power beyond capabilities you will have to either disable it by removing the PB sleeve and plugging that port then follow Hoye's instructions or you will have to connect the PB and return to tank lines as I described above.

Thanks Aaron - I've seen that page and was going by that, but the pby connection was giving the problem. I'll just not use it for now.

Do you recall the tube size that is cut? I think I'm mic'ing 10mm - does that sound right?

Also anyone know what the arrow is in the pic?

Do you already have a valve?

If so, does it have a PB port? If it does then you just can't leave it disconnected. What exactly is the valve you have and how is it configured port-wise?

Just don't run the return hose back to the tank the way mine is. Someone put an extra neck on it with a fitting for the hose and then the cap screws into that neck. Sounds like an easy way to do it but it sprays hydraulic fluid up into the cap and it comes out the vent hole. I have reduced this to just a drip by putting a reducer in the other end of the return hose but I'm still leaking. Do it the way Hoye has suggested with the Koyker (I believe it is a diverter valve?)

The valve on my tractor that looks like that controls the drop rate of the 3PH. And as Hoye said, you want to set up your FEL with an open center configuration. You cut a section out of the small-diameter hi-pressure line, plumb the "in" port of the FEL to the pump side, and the "out" port to the 3PH side. Then your 2 hydraulic devices (FEL & 3PH) are connected in series.

And roxynoodle, it sounds like you're still set up with a power beyond configuration. You can completely get rid of the third hose if you can reconfigure it as a simple open center configuration (if you don't already know that). The Koyker already installed on my 1510 when I got it was set up with power beyond and the 3rd hose was poorly routed through my fill cap. Koyker's valve is easy to change from PBY to open center, and I was just able to remove the 3rd hose and cap off that connection.
