Anyone know if this is a standard size (say 3/8" tube) that I cold just splice with autoshop brake line and two fittings?

I would not recommend trying to repair the tube with a splice. You would be better off replacing it.

Where on the line is it leaking? Could mke a difference on the repair.

Buying a piece of the "Proper Tubing" and then bending it should not break the bank. :)

If there is a rub spot make sure and ortect the tubing.:)

I agree to braze the line if break isn't at fitting/flare

yep.. we got plenty of jd and cat industrial equipment with lon hard lines that run the length of the machine that get a poke hole now and then.. drain, clean em up and run some brass around it and go...

Two of mine (curl/dump) were pretty mangled and one finally got a pin hole. Demolition work is hard on the loader hydraulics....

I played around with splicing new segments of tube in, but the flaring was a PITA with my cheap kit.

Since the replacement lines are only $100,each I just ordered two and should have them by the weekend.

If the lines were otherwise in good shape, I'd seriously consider brazing.

And yes, these were 3/8" or at least the 3/8" tube tubes fit correctly. The JD lines seemed to have thicker walls.

I recall once seeing the PSI's on a brazed joint and was surprised that it was up there in chrome molly (4130) ranges.
So, brazing is the way to go.
