As winter approaches I was looking at fuel additives. I don’t mind spending $ when needed but I don’t like wasting it. Prices and claims vary...
What do you fine folks recommend?

NONE, It's already in the fuel when I buy it.

In the winter, I buy "winter fuel" at a fuel station (on road fuel) that sells quite a bit of fuel, I've never, NOT even one time ever had a problem, even when it's below zero out.

Power Service - White jug - year round.

Stanadyne Performance Fuel Conditioner. Been around for decades, formulated by a fuel system component manufacturer and highly rated in any additive comparison I have seen it included in.

Most get in trouble with left over summer fuel;use winter blend and PowerService white bottle.

I have never used any additive in diesel fuel. I buy off road diesel fuel from local gas station because off road is quite a bit cheaper than on road because of the extra tax for road use. Yes around here they automatically switch the blend for cold weather use but I’m sure I have wound up burning the wrong fuel in the wrong season a few times with no problems ever, then again my tractors don’t get run much in extreme cold weather like -20 Fahrenheit.

How much gelling affects your tractor greatly depends on what micron your fuel filter is rated at. What may not plug a 10 micron filter may plug up a 2 micron filter.

Same here.

There are instructions in the owners manual to add some kerosene to prevent gelling in extreme cold temps. But I've never seen anything that cold in southern Michigan.
