I am in need of a tractor around 30-40hp and there is a Farmtrac for sale locally. It is a 360DTC and seems to be in good shape with relatively low hours. A local place used to be a dealer and says he can still get parts with no issues. I worry though that a few years down the line, parts might not be available. Would you guys recommend staying away from a used Farmtrac at this point?

From what I can gather it was manufactured by LS/LG for Escort Agri and later rebadged as a Montana Limited 360 DTC. It has a Mitsubishi 36 HP engine. I have no idea on parts availability. It would have to be priced way under market value for me to even consider it.

I bought one brand new in 2006 and it has never been to the shop, had a few minor things like clutch return spring broke twice, tach/Rpm cable broke but I was able to fix them myself and the parts were easy to come by, mine has been great and is much more capable than a lot of other tractors in it's size range. Good luck whatever you decide. Charlie.

Thanks guys! The asking price is $10k and probably would go for $9k or maybe $9.5k. 550 hours on it and it looks to be in good shape. Thoughts?

Wouldn't even dream of it, myself. Parts availability and resale would be my concerns. What's the point of any piece of equipment if getting parts is a struggle?

You can get a similar sized brand-name tractor for 20-30 percent more money. That money will be returned to you when you sell, and parts are readily available on-line or at a dealership.

I thought about buying that same model new, to rototill with, so I demoed it and after running it at pto speed it didn't take long to know that there was too much vibration in that motor to put up with it for hours on end!

Perhaps for your use, you won't be giving it a steady diet of pto speed?

My uses would be primarily rough cut mowing, discing about an acre, and some minor bucket or boxblade work.
