FabTech 2019

Fabtech in Chicago this year was a brutal 4 days. Much more than I care to spend standing around especially after attending more than 20 times . Over all a pretty heavily attended event. Did Anyone Go? Vegas Next year.

Was supposed to go but had a last minute change in plans. Always fun to see the new tech and machines. I should be at 2020.

I had hoped to attend this year but couldn't make a good business case for work to pay for my travel and lodging. I went in 2015 when it was in Chicago and hope to go next year in Las Vegas. It's definitely a cool place to see new machines and technology, plus there are some great technical talks and networking opportunities for anyone in the welding & metalworking industries.

This year and next year are pivotal years for technology. New equipment from many new vendors and prices are going down. When next year gets close I can get free admission tickets for who ever gets to go.

I was recovering from 8 days in Las Vegas this year for SEMA.

8 days? ugh. It would take me a month to recover from that. Fabtech is going back to 3 for Vegas next year thank heavens. I'd like to go to the SEMA show sometime.

Well,
Leave and fly out of Jacksonville early Saturday morning, after 3 hour drive. Setup in the afternoon with some of the other guys who flew in to help setup. Setup again Sunday. Recheck and finish details Monday, rest the balance of the afternoon. Tuesday through Friday show. Start Knock down Friday after show so other guys can finish up. Leave Saturday afternoon, get to Jacksonville nearly at 10 pm. Spent night in hotel to avoid hitting deer late at night. Come home Sunday.
