Howdy,

At an upcoming auction, there is a Yanmar F46D listed. Stated as 4x4, 55hp, LPTO. No FEL or other attachments. No statement of hours either.

So the questions I have are as follows.

1) I can't find much info about this tractor, so I'm assuming a grey market?

2) Reading here, that parts may be a problem?

3) Who can fit a FEL to this unit. Koyker said they don't mount this tractor, but I think Allied does.

4) What is something like this worth....Minnesota area. Pictures make it appear nice

Thanks

Dan

Help me out fellas! Is that the tractor that is actually a Kujuke?

Welcome to the board. The F46D is a gray market Yanmar. It is fairly uncommon as it is larger than most of the tractors that are typically imported. Parts availability will be about the same as all of the F and FX series tractors - not that great but getting better every day. You can put a Koyker loader on anything. It is nice if there is a kit for it but if not it can still be done. I would be surprised if anyone had a bolt on kit for this model but they might. Tractor prices vary a lot by location. Someone closer to you will need to chime in on that. Number of hours and "up close" appearance are are huge factor though.

One more thing... Be extra cautious of auction tractors in general. You have absolutely no history on the machine and you usually do not have the time and space to test the tractor out properly. Auctions are often used as safe places to dump tractors with expensive problems.

Thanks for the reply! And thanks for the welcome.

The auction is a rental business, going out of business. I've contacted the auctioneer, and he said as soon as the inventory is transfered to the auction site I'm welcome to come "inspect" it.

Thanks again.

Alright, here's the lowdown.

I went and looked at the F46D in person. Didn't look too bad from the curb, didn't look great either. It's definitely greymarket.

That is a nice sized tractor. Right rear tire near bald.

Started right up, somewhat smokey I thought ....and kinda ruff. I thought maybe things would settle down as it warmed up. Drove fine through all gears, no odd noises, clutch felt fine.

Still ruff running and smokey though. I notice some blow-by coming from the crankcase vent. Didn't think that was good for running such a short time.

Took the right engine shroud off. Sure enough, it was blow-by. Seen some steam/vapor coming from the rear of the valve cover and rear injector.

Tell tale signs of the valve cover off...grey RTV around the sealing area and the rear valve cover hold-down bolt was VERY loose, like 4-5 turns.

The hour meter showing 878 hours and did work.

I'm gonna pass.

I think you're smart to pass on this one, there are plenty of tractors out there. Find a good dealer - they'll point you the right way. You might speak to some of the dealers who post here, they get very positive reviews from those on the board who do business with them.....

And Welcome to TBN!
