Okay, a little while ago the consumers were going bankrupt and losing their homes to forecloser and losing their job because of cutbacks. Now, they're suppose to take the car they are now living in and trade it in on a new car with new car payments they can't afford either. What's going on Here, I don't get it? Is the Government just creating a newer class of Homeless for which the Government will then have make a new agency to oversee the entitlements. bjr

Thank God for all you folks! Thanks to you refusing any government help, such as Social Security and Medicare, the rest of us will be well funded!

Thanks again!

I doubt I will ever get a chance to use any S.S. It will be a lapped up by then.

I sure wish they'd focus on the programs we already have (the ones that are already going bankrupt) Rather than trying to invent new ones to pay for - Duh.

Look at the headline on today's Drudge report - That will explain it to you.

I believe this with my whole heart.

"If you want to make sure that crime doesn't pay, let the government run it!"

My favorite quote on the health care "crisis" is "If you think health care is expensive now, wait until it is free".

Do we really want our health care run with the compassion of the IRS and the speed of the Postal Service? Anyway this is turning political and will get shut down, but it is my $.02 worth.(well less than that after they tax it):p.

I think, it is a "rouge" to either make the Americans (the numb ones) think something is being done for global warming/emissions or to satisfy a voting base, but probably both.

It is obviously clear that "debt" as you and I know it, does not become a priority in the thought process of a politician, more a way to "buy" success.

I guess if "I" was spending "your" money I may splurge more than usual.

I have a buddy who traded in his 07 corvette for a loaded Tahoe. He got "clunker" cash. don't know how.

My wife's vette gets 28mpg (when she drives it)

I don't think so. A.) The vette is worth more than $4500. The dealer won't give any trade it (manufacturer may offer matching rebates) B.) the new vehicle has to do better than the old. Tahoe isn't doing better than a vette on gas.

I'm sure a creative dealer can find a clunker that would suffice for the completion of the paperwork.

The thing i dont get, is ive seen vehicles go in the clunker program that are clearly worth more than 4500 (at least in my part of the world), such as the excellent condition volvo ia a video link i posted in another thread.

Why are consumers taking a loss on these cars just to get in the program? Dont make sense to me.

When you look at the big picture of the actual money and environmental costs of building a new car to replace a running vehicle it dont make sense.

Now if the car is a actual clunker,ie rusted out, polluting car, then i can MAYBE see the validity of the program. Alot of the cars destroyed are nicer than whats currently on the road here.

Our hope lies in more realizing what you all are saying.
