excessive hydraulic pressure

Well it seems that I overfilled the trans/hydraulic oil on my '01 4200. Now there is excessive pressure building in the system as noticed by air escaping from the fill plug. I have since drained off the excess and is midway on the sight glass on level ground. The loader is now slow and the steering choppy. Any ideas on what I messed up ?

How long did you operate the tractor with the high oil level? Did oil get hot or the pump hot? Is the hyd oil "foamy"? A little like "whipped cooking oil"..?

If you didn't get things hot - might only be alot of entrained air in the system. It can takes some time for that to work out of the hyd oil.

Thanks for the reply. Only ran it for a few minutes. It did not get hot. I shut it down when I noticed the steering was choppy. Yes the oil was foamy. I don't mean to be short on words, just like to get to the point.

"Right to the point" has always been the "best track" for me... :laughing: I get a little sleepy with real long sentences!

Sounds like things should be OK. Just takes some time for the air to migrate back out of the hyd oil and out of the tractor's hydraulic system. Might be a week or two..
