Excavator Sunk in Bog

OK OK I don't have a picture, but on our news tonight there was a story of an excavator that slipped into a muddy waterhole while working on the bank.

All that was visible was the top foot or so of the cab. They used a rowboat to go over to rescue the driver who had climbed out.

Nasty piece of work. Will try and get a pic from our news archives if possible.

The firm I work for does a little excavation in wet areas. here is a pic of the mats we use for draglines and excavators. The are made from 12 x 12 oak lumber, 1" allthread rods, and 3/4" steel cable slings.

The real fun is coming to work in the morning, on a DRY job, and seeing only the tip of your boom. :^(
