Depends on where in socal. Probably not. From San Jose, you would go south on 101 to 158 across to the 5 and south to socal. Hours of service were different than.
Hours of service were largely unchanged between 1937 and 2006. Rules were very easy to circumvent until the implementation of Elogs (electronic log books).

Just spoke to our regular med driver for hospital this morning… he said starting out he had that run but that was in the old days…

Ah the good old day. I once picked up a load of auto parts in Plano TX and drove nonstop to Los Angeles because they had run out of parts and the manufacturing line was stopped until those parts arrived. Almost exactly 30 hours straight through.

Had a regular route of chemical and biological waist for 5 years that went from Sacramento CA to Indianapolis IN. Rolled out from Sac at 4am Monday went to Cheyenne WY slept for 4 hours then on to Indianapolis. Swapped trailers and went back to Sacramento. I was home by noon Friday. I was an owner/ opperator then so I would do paperwork, taxes, maintanance etc all weekend.

Ah the good old days😏

Well, it finally arrived Sept. 14. 22 weeks in total. I was able to pick it up after 2pm. Drove 1.25 hours, got it loaded, drove 1.25 hours home. Unpacked it, and went to get the tractor to hook it up. Tractor went into its first regen at 30 hours! While waiting for the regen, I went and got the grease gun and started greasing. After the first zerk, I ran out of grease. Refilled the grease gun, greased the rest of the fittings and the tractor as well. Tractor finished regen so I hooked up the grapple. Open and closed it 2-3 times and then went to pick up my first pile and the wife rang the dinner bell ( you don't ignore the dinner bell!!!). Well I guess today is a new day.

Ran the tractor all day yesterday. Discovered a hydraulic leak at around 2pm. Called the dealer. They sent a mechanic up this morning. The brand new 3rd function valve is damaged from the factory. I have to wait 3 weeks for the new one to come in and get installed😡🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬
Mechanic said its the 3rd one in 2 weeks.

Was told by a dealer that shipping now cost between $3.50 to $4 per mile.
In 1952 12 years old picked beans for 2 cents a pound.
In 1964 drove a forklift for Mercury Marine got paid $1.72 an hour!
When in high school 1956-57-58 I worked in a supper club 7 nights a week
but had every week end off they picked me up from school and had the
evening meal there also and was paid $75 check every week.

Shipping what, hazardous waist? When I retired from truck driving 2 years ago, that was the going rate for Hazardous waist. For basic stuff it was more like $1.75- $2.00 a mile. Cars were going for around $.75/ mile but they were getting between 4 and 9 cars per load.
