I think the trick is to dig them up at just the right time, not too wet or dry; then the soil will fall right off. Of course picking them up and dropping them a few times doesn't hurt either.

I am surprized by the ripper shanks on that, much much shorter then the rippers on my Landpride..
Maybe Ted has determined they do not need to be so long???
But those appear in the pics to just break past the bottom runners
