The longer bottom tines are useful for hand stacking the little stuff as well.

If that's little, i'm not so sure I wanna see the big stuff!

In another thread EA convinced me that I'd be happier with a grapple than a 4 in 1 bucket. My problem now is deciding between the EA 60" root rake grapple or the 60" Wicked root grapple. This is going on a not yet delivered JD 4066 R (open station) with a 180ML loader. I've configured it with the skid steer carrier and 3rd function. The grapple will be used primarily in clearing land for food plots so, in addition to moving slashings and logs I'll also be root raking and grubbing stumps. The 4066 R is light so I have configured it with 440 lbs of rear wheel weights (R4 tires) and can fit 5 70lb suitcase weights on the front with the 180. I likely will be ordering a 72" extreme duty box blade from them to serve as additional ballast. I like the "dexterity" I'd get with the Wicked's two lids, and longer tines closer together. On the other hand, the root rake grapple is a little sturdier and about 40 lbs heavier that would be helpful clearing land. How likely am I to tear something up if I use the Wicked root grapple as a root rake? Thanks for any advice.
Instead of wheel and suitcase weights, have you considered getting your wheels filled with Rim Guard? It puts the weight down low, improves the ride, and doesn't strain the wheel bearings by forcing them to bear the load. Downside: high gear works harder to carry the weight, and you cannot lighten the tractor easily. On the other hand, the only time I want a lighter tractor is when I'm transporting something with it on a frozen lake.

I should also point out that the root grapple is not as effective at grabbing roots as scarifiers. The root grapple can get roots out, but a zillion surface roots are easier to nab up with scarifiers on a box scraper. If you look for my commercial box scraper review on YouTube, the beginning of the video shows removing roots with the scarifiers. That said, I'd would purchase my wicket root grapple again, and you should have no problems with it on your new 4066R!

Eric, thanks for the good advice. Based on what I have read I think that I am going to order both the 66" Wicked root grapple and the 72" Severe extreme duty box blade. With my backhoe that should cover me.

Sounds like a good plan!

How does your 4 in 1 buckets compare to C&L buckets, I have a buddy that keeps wearing out the bottom of his, he's a landscaper and if the machine is moving bucket is on the ground doing something

Do you mean CA(Construction Attachments)? CA makes really good quality buckets for compact tractors up to high HP track machines.
They offer several grades as well as optional reversible bolt on cutting edges for wear resistance.
See them on our website here:

I tried EA's 5ft cutter for a few hours, I like it!

Also used the disk harrow for the first time as well, very impressed with it!

Sorry for the double post, not sure how that happened.

I'll erase the second one, kind of frustrating when that happens. I'm sure I only hit the button once.

Ordered a new Mahindra 3550 June 1 and my dealer ordered an EA 72" Grapple for it on June 1. EA was called today and it still has not shipped as they are/were out of cylinders. Anyone know of another similar or better grapple as I'm less than impressed with this and want to be prepared to order something else if it is delayed much longer.

You won't regret waiting for the ETA's grapple, everything I have from them is as good as it can be!

I have been using my ETA grapple for for three years with nary a problem. Other people I have talked to and heard of using other brands haven't been so fortunate. Wait now for the best or wait for parts for something else later.

Grapple is apparently shipping today so all should be good.

I ordered an EA Gooseneck Hitch Adapter for my Kubota last week. We are well outside their free shipping zone, so they charged $20 to ship it FedEx. I think that's reasonable for a 65 lb item. It arrived 4 business days after I placed the order. Its a simple item, but looks nicely made and works great. This the first item I've purchased from EA, so far I am pleased with their product and customer service.

Thanks for the kind words! Most people are pleasantly surprised by our great freight rates outside of our 1,000 mile free shipping zone, even out to the West Coast.

Factory direct, no middleman and no tax almost always adds up to us providing the best value out there!

Which plugger would you recommend for 6 acres of pretty clear, level land going on a CT235 Bobcat?
Hate to spend the expensive one, but if it does that much of a better job, maybe it is worth it

Will over time plugging help to level out some minor roughness?

The best one would be our 60" Xtreme Duty Alternating Depth Core Aerator with the independent wheels and a weight of almost 1,200 pounds.

If that isn't in the budget and time isn't a huge concern, I would back down to the 48" Alternating Depth model.

My 3rd choice would be our 72" Drum Style plugger, which is nicest drum style that I know of.

Over time, plugging should help with roughness. The Xtreme models should bury to the wheels and eliminate roughness faster than the other design.
A chain harrow would provide a faster solution to roughness.
