I guess my reply from last night was conveniently overlooked as well...
I can sometimes offer special residential delivery options for customers in the Southeastern US and multiple items increase the chances for better residential rates, even if you're not in the Southeast. This generally pertains to attachments that ship from our NC location aka home base. I always try to help customers to the best of my ability and give them the best options for shipping. Customers beyond our free zone are continually telling me how reasonable our shipping is; quite frequently to the west coast.
Fortunately, it works for the majority. We are extremely grateful for the best year ever and some of the most appreciated and cared for customers out there.

LOL
Still SOME people will read what they want!

I found the shipping policies to be clear and easy to understand.

While the grapple I ordered last week was one of the 1000 mile radius products, the extra shipping to get it to a freight terminal near me in California was reasonably priced. Inexpensive lift gate service to my house like some vendors offer would be great but it is hard to get drivers to actually come up to the house. We're way up a narrow mountain road. The last one would not attempt my driveway and he'd been sent with the "small" truck. He dropped my pallet forks at the gate and I took the tractor down to get them. But now I have pallet forks so I can unload the grapple off my truck.

"best options for shipping"?
$75 extra for delivery by common carrier, with same truck, out with various other deliveries, from same shipping terminal 85 miles away.
$125 extra for lift gate (required for home delivery), even though I could unload with my tractor loader.
Total of $200 EXTRA for EA "FREE SHIPPING" well inside 1000 mile EA "FREE SHIPPING" area?

From the tone of your post, I also assume that you opt to accurately advertise your business products, and their delivery costs.
THAT is an EXCELLENT business practice!

Some of my products include delivery on my trucks to the customer location. Others do not and is billed separately. I have inbound freight cost as well on all of my products and raw materials. I have to cover that cost in the price I set for a given product. The problem I run into is trying to cover that cost, to an unknown location, in order to set an advertised price. If I offer free shipping, I have to figure that cost high in order to cover my expenses. It is just a part of business.

I don't care if you want to buy anything or not. I think the conversation would be entertaining at least.

I'd still like to hear your "definition" of how you think someone else should make that 170 mile round trip for you. You say there is nothing free about taking a day to make the trip, yet you expect someone else to do it. I don't think anyone ships to every geographic location within the confines of the "Continental US". There are places that are simply too far out of the way to accommodate even if they are within the geographic borders.

"Uninformed usage"???
Really ???
Tow vehicle is a pristine, 20 year old K2500 4x4 Suburban, with 454 V-8 in a hilly area, often in very slow traffic.
Your suggestions please, on how I might become better ....informed?
Perhaps your suggestion will be that I buy a new $75,000 vehicle for the 2000 miles per year that I use it (I ONLY use it for towing).
Now THAT would REALLY be "uniformed usage of resources".
Thank you for the carefully crafted INSULT !!!

You're griping about 9mpg when you only drive 2000 miles a year? That's hilarious. My 97 454 k3500 would get 5mpg pulling my stock trailer. I didn't gripe. When the mpg issue became a concern, I got a more modern truck. Now I have an $80k truck that gets driven 12k a year and maybe does 10 mpg loaded and 14 unloaded. Still not griping about having to go to the freight terminal to get my ea stuff

OK...then you need to pay careful attention to this!
The "someone else" you refer to, is a licensed common carrier, that may make as many as 30 or 40 deliveries to the same general area each day. If they are collecting $75 for each delivery (plus a $125 lift gate fee for some), they are doing rather well for themselves (trucking company).
I DO NOT expect "someone else" to send a truck with my single item on it.
Is that the way it works in WV, because much of that area is so rural?

This is probably the most accurate statement you've made. Yes the common carriers are doing well for themselves.

You have completely obscured the issue!
The issue is about "FREE SHIPPING", when the cost of "FREE SHIPPING", as defined by EA would have been $200.
It may not matter to you, but time and mileage (it is not JUST gas) actually do both have meaningful costs.
Do you drive through 85 miles of often heavy traffic each way, to reach your freight terminal?

I know of no company that lists their full terms and policies on each item they sell, except perhaps ebay sellers. The issue is: you took one snippet of information and assumed it was a blanket statement covering every physical address in the lower-48. Upon reading into the terms and policies you realized your assumptions were incorrect. Rather than taking it like a man, you took it like an average internet troll and wasted a bunch of people's time over a non-issue.

Northeast & FL isn't very specific and I do not know which product you're referring to, BUT I can guarantee I can ship it for MUCH less than $200 if you can offload from a semi.

I've gotten several implements from them. I'm a repeat customer, and that's because they ARE a great company to do business with.

In all cases I specifically discussed shipping charges. Looking back through my records I see that the shipping charges for my grapple and pallet forks were based on distance beyond their 1,000 mile radius. I suspect "Continental US" means that the 1,000 mile radius doesn't apply if it extends out past the continent (then who knows what kind of shipping has to take place!). ;) Last item I purchased (a tiller) I don't see any shipping charges on.

Their page on shipping charges
is pretty clear to me.
From the map, 1000 miles would also include Canada, hence the restriction to being in the US.

I found the wording of the free shipping, continental us, limited range, etc... a bit confusing. The map with the circle clears it up pretty well and shows exactly where it'll be free IN THE U.S.

Perhaps it should say something like "some items can ship to any freight terminal anywhere within the contiguous United State for free, and others can ship for free to anywhere within our coverage map - SEE THE MAP AND CALL US FOR DETAILS.

I think they should have used CONTIGUOUS instead of CONTINENTAL.

But really, it in no way comes across as a bait and switch, just a bit confusing.

Anywho, EA would do themselves a favor by not getting into pissing matches on the internet. It comes across as just as unprofessional as the instigator.

Not my fault you decided to live 85 miles from a freight terminal. I live about 60 miles and it's not a bad drive at all but then again I don't expect everything at my inconvenient door step. I know where I live and accept it's out of most people way
