I have to say that I do expect if someone's going to be later than their estimate, they should proactively provide an update as soon as they realize.
I completely sympathize with EA's supply chain issues (which are mirrored across many industries and are obviously not peculiar to them), but if they say it will be about 16 weeks, they should monthly reevaluate all of their outstanding orders and update customers as to revised time estimates.
To do otherwise is either careless (I know they're busy, but it's a good business practice) or deliberate to string people along longer (I certainly hope otherwise).
