I cannot give you a simple quote to back up my point. The subject fills chapters of books on the Pacific war and the summary I gave is the pretty well established consensus view. What I posted is essentially what the first paragraph of the Wikipedia entry on Pearl Harbor says too. It really is a pretty well established point whereas this stuff about the Japanese being afraid of armed citizenry is really just poppycock or self serving pseudo history by gun rights groups.

I read your link and no where does it deny that the statement was made at some point. You don't like the idea that was expressed and you made a flat out emphatic denial that it had ever occurred. You can't back that up. There is more evidence that it was the sentiment than there is that it wasn't.
Not that it really matters a hill of beans. Other than politics you are OK.
