Ever Felt Threatened Enough That A Pistol Was Needed?

Yeah AND they didn't sucker-punch us at Pearl Harbor :confused2:

No, they did sucker punch us at PH but the idea that they did not invade was due to citizens behind every palm tree (not much grass in Honolulu) with a gun is crap. They did not bring an invasion fleet, they brought a strike force to destroy the US Navy. Luckily they missed the carriers or their plan to knock us out of the Pacific war might have worked.

When someone proposes a wacky theory not discussed in any serious history of WW2, I'd say the burden of proof is not on the skeptic.

I bet he could present more proof of his statement than you could. You are crawfishing.

I've got all 3 of those, looks like the 66 is near collectors status now.
The Model 66 sold for just over a hundred dollars back in the 70's, pretty safe investment.

My snubby 66 looks a little smaller than the one in your picture, just looked at it briefly yesterday. Maybe I'm mistaken, cause how could it have much shorter a barrel with the extractor plunger right there.

JB

You did say yours has a 2" barrel? My 66 has a 2 1/2" barrel. I didn't realize they made a 2" barrel. But maybe yours was modified or it could be a shorter factory barrel.

Back in those days the Colt Python and the S&W Models 19/66 were the guns to have. I never had a Python. I'd probably buy one if I could find one reasonably priced.

Hey Roy and everyone.....Have you seen the latest fad that is hitting Major cities across the US...Kids target a person walking alone and one goes in with a sucker punch and when they go down they run..if they don't go down they all attack and then post it on You tube....Nice Huh...? So you are right Roy, I preach to my family all the time to be aware of their surroundings at all times...Here is the link > Police Aim To Crack Down On Violent New Trend, 'Knock Out' | Fox News

I did and I also saw a video on 60 minutes or one of those shows a year or so ago some security camera footage they had on this crime.

My hair stood up on my neck they showed a group of kids hanging out and this black guy runs up to a white guy waiting to get on an elevator. Knocked the crap out of him just wound up and sucker punched him in the side of the head as hard as he could knocked the guy out cold half in half out of the elevator.

What was really messed up was he was legally carrying a concealed handgun but he was so surprised and messed up he couldn't get back in the fight once he started to come conscious lucky the punks didn't see his gun. Simply put he wasn't using situational awareness to his advantage sadly it can happen to anyone just a lapse of mental focus could be the last one.

I looked again, didn't measure it but it looks like yours with the barrel extending just pact the case extractor housing, so it must be the same.

What makes it look smaller must be that mine has the wood grips, makes the whole gun look a little smaller.

This is not mine, but looks exactly like it.

I was into the pachmyer grips for most of my revolvers, but didn't put them on this one just to keep it a tad smaller.

Man they are getting crazy money for Pythons!

Wow! Those prices poked my eyes out!

I had those small wood grips on it when I traded for it. I have a set of large rosewood grips that look good too.

I read about that on Fox News a few days back...pretty sick little scum, eh?
As a lot of TBNers know, I have a gimpy leg (stroke about 12 years ago), so it's not like I'm going to outrun these creeps...and, since they are cowards who only go after what they consider a "weak" target...well, I could be one.
So, when I carry a pistol (which is any time I can carry legally), it's at the ready and my hand is likely on the grip.

I'm not saying you're right or wrong...I really don't know.
But since you bring this up, maybe some substantiation would be advisable...

I've read the entire thread on pocket pistols listed below, how many folks have actually felt that they were in a situation where a pistol was essential to making it out of a tough spot?
I am 64 yrs old, travel a good bit with my work, and up to this point in my life have never been in a predicament where a gun was needed. Hopefully that will never change but one never knows!
Thanks..........

I live in Northwest Iowa, not that I couldn't get shot but there is absolutely no place I go, day or night I ever feel the need to carry.

I cannot give you a simple quote to back up my point. The subject fills chapters of books on the Pacific war and the summary I gave is the pretty well established consensus view. What I posted is essentially what the first paragraph of the Wikipedia entry on Pearl Harbor says too. It really is a pretty well established point whereas this stuff about the Japanese being afraid of armed citizenry is really just poppycock or self serving pseudo history by gun rights groups.
