I would imagine that just about every major town has someone with a table that would be willing to cut your steel from your pattern.

Fortunately there are places nearby that do Laser and/or water cutting and I've used them before with success. I just wish I had friends with access that would slide a small job in, or get me a discount.

Intellectual property is a big part of product development costs, and the more complex the product, the more valuable the intellectual property.
