That is what the policy reads, but there are always exceptions. The squeaky wheel gets the grease.

The tractor shoudl not be broke at 10 hours - period, end of story. They shoudl fix it all at their costs - period. I would raise **** out of principle.

Your right the dealer should have came an fix your tractor. Just the fact that you shelled out the money. The code told them where the problem was an any good tech should have been able the fix it in no time at all. The problem with some dealers is they cut thier margins so close that they can't eat the cost of a service call. Not saying you bought it from such a dealer what I notice is that if the dealers price is the cheapest and so is the quality of thier service.

Now about the big block days I'm still living in them I drive a 3/4 ton Suburban w/the vortec 454. The mileage is a whole 13-16 mpg but I can pull a house with it an still have power to spare. On the down side when gas was 3.50/gal that 44 gal tank sure hurt to fill. I hate to say it but isn't 2.00 a gal nice.

Boy isn't that the truth. When you talk about cheap gas at $2/gal you know they got us where they want us.

TRACTOR FIXED. Sorry for the long time to post fix. Anyhow, dealer wanted $200 to pickup and another $200 to return tractor when finished. I figure $400 out the door for a warranty repair on a factory defect was not a very good deal so I sprung for the factory repair manual instead.

So... Got out and braved the weather today and worked on it. The problem was the throttle position sensor feedback voltage was not posting correctly. The factory specification for the throttle position sensor voltage at idle was .6v - 1.2volts. The Deere computer has the ability to display sensor readings in real time and a voltmeter is not even required. In fact, in order to use a voltmeter, a seperate breakout box needs to be purchased. I opted to use the dash display option. At idle setting, it initially read 0 volts, definitely no good. I wiggled the connector for the TPS and got .6v. Hmm, perhaps the connector has an intermittent? Anyhow, while the voltage at .6 volts was just barely in range, I could see how the voltage could drop below that minimum voltage threshold during operation and trip the error code. I decided to adjust the TPS to provide .9v during idle, the mid point of the low speed range. To do this, you merely loosen the two nuts holding the sensor in place and rotate the sensor to where it will post the correct voltage -- lock down the nuts and done. Restarted the motor and operated it for a bit and no more code. At this point, it appears to be fixed and it costed me a little under $100 for the service manual, a far better deal than the $400 the dealer wanted.

And it cost me $0 to read this excellent post :)

I have the Error 8 displayed and although I know it's the least serious code of all I find it annoying to have it appear on the display every time I start the tractor, even though merely changing display mode clears it. I was told this error is usually a false positive and in any case the most harm it can do is prevent one from using Loadmatch which I have no use for anyway. Just bugs me to have "error" appear on the display. Thanks to you I may be able to finally make it go away.

I am curious how the dealer is supposed to fix this problem on dealer setup? There was not a problem until 8.2 hrs and if they could fix tractors BEFORE IT BROKE they would be in a more profitable business than fixing tractors. By the way try to get Ford or Chevy to come to your garage to fix your pick up truck under warranty. Why do people expect tractor dealer to do it???
