Has anyone else experienced repetitive motion problems from using the shuttle shifter (common on LS and I'm sure other brands)? I guess I am showing my age, but my left elbow has a constant nagging pain and hurts when I lift anything heavier than drinking cup. All I can attribute the problem to is operation of this shifter as I have been doing a lot of close FEL work clearing some of my property. Any insights/suggestions would be appreciated.

I get the same thing once in a while if I'm using my left arm to pull a lot. Like when I'm setting floor joist. I've been told it is common tennis elbow
Anyway, an elastic tennis elbow thingy found in any drug store helps me a great deal. At least I can pick up my coffee cup :D
It looks like an elastic tube about 5" long. Wear it on the forearm just below the elbow to support the tendons.
Good luck.

I agree 100% with Gordon. Just about anything can cause those elbow tendons to act up. Constantly operating a shuttle shift could do it. The only cure is rest. Cold compresses also will relieve some of the inflammation as will NSAID pain relievers like aspirin or ibuprofen. (Note: I am not a doctor, just sharing my experience.)

The "tennis elbow" strap takes the strain off of the tendon and allows it to rest even while you work. It takes three weeks to a month for mine to clear up. Just don't forget to wear it or you have to start the healing process over again.

Most sporting goods stores sell a heavy duty strap. Pharmacies usually have them as well but they seem lighter duty. Expect to pay about $12.

Get a Hydrostat.. Seriously.

Funny you should say that, as I thought the same thing, but the money has already been spent. To complicate things (everyone will think I'm a hypochondriac now), but I developed a knot on the tendon of my right foot recently which I wondered if it is from operating the pedal on my BX-2200 (hydrostat) which I use to cut 3 acres every week.
Thanks for the tips guys I will follow your advice, epecially the "rest' part. I plan to start resting in a deer stand soon.
