Hi, Egon
Yea, the weather on the island sucks at this time of year - not much but rain. Being deskbound, diversions are always welcome so I'll be sure to check out your suggestions. More than likely I'll hop a flight before the month is out and head for the sun. There's only so much wet weather a body can take.

The implication of that comment is I'm a sucker, you're a crook, or both.

What I am is an eternal optimist.

I suppose I forgot the little ;) icon to suggest I mean nothing against you personally. I really meant no offense. I admit I could have been more tactful. I appologize.

Back to discussion of the idea: I accept that anything is possible, but for that system to work it would have to go against some of the basic fundamental laws of physics. Equally as possible is that there could be ocean front property in Arizona. A few good, strong California earthquakes, a little more global warming... Voila!! You're surfing into Yuma Beach.

Thank you, Iplayfarmer. Humour is good.

I know running a vehicle on water seems to contradict our current understanding of physics. But I wonder what Isaac Newton would have made of the solar cell where electricity is produced with no moving parts (at least not visible to the naked eye), without pollution and without active energy input. We're an ingenious species and I'm optimistic about our ability to tap into hitherto unknown sources of energy that might do the same for the personal vehicle. Ref. MikeinEburg's posting, I loved the scene in Back to the Future where the professor flew in, opened the car hood and dropped in some old banana skins and a couple tin cans. Who knows, perhaps one day . . . .

Einstein's theory of relativity also proved that Newtonian physics is not correct on an extreme scale. That's the level of new discovery we'd be talking about, though.

I'm a huge believer in the capacity of the human race to continually improve our situation. That's why I get a big kick out of doomsdayers that insist the world oil reserves will run out in XX years (or whatever other environmental apocalypse they come up with). They never seem to account for new technology or new discovery. I just don't think that energy from water is going to be the answer. What they're not telling you in the YouTube video is that it takes power (electricity) to break the water into H2 and O2 gasses. Sure the car runs on water, but they have to put energy into that water to convert it to gasses. Until I hear where that energy is coming from, I'll continue being skeptical.

I would come a lot closer to believing in "Mr. Fusion" than the "wonderful water generator" because energy from fusion might be possible some day.. dont have a clue how they are gonna contain it in a vessel like that, but who knows. but that is breaking atomic bonds, not chemical bonds. If we could break atomic bonds. (been done before, lotsa times, think BOOM) and contain the energy, our energy worries would be over. Breaking those chemical bonds on the HHO generator is easy, any 6th grader can do it. Only problem is, it takes a little more energy to breakdown the molecules than you get out of burning it. That is where the rub comes in. The HHO generator, while usefull for a welding gas generator, takes electrical energy. Oh did you hear the "small" statement about "he chooses to run the car on both HHO and gasoline" Yeah he "chooses" because the energy to run the generator cannot be gotten from burning the gas the generator produces to "crack" more water. The input energy gotta come from somewhere, and he "chooses" gasoline. They always act like that little problem is gonna be solved next week.. NOT. Oh and for the torch, being cold. all Welding torches are pretty cool near the tip if you run enough volume of gas thru them, as the expanding gas keeps them cool. Look up torch pop, that is usually because your gas volume is not enough and the torch gets hot and you have pre-ignition in the torch from being hot enough to set of the gas/oxy mixture. Dirt/obstruction/holding too close to the work, can contribute to this also. It is a good "trick" to catch your eye, it is the mark of a Charlatan to show you something that seems incredible, that you have seen with your own two eyes, and maybe cannot explain, to divert you from the fact that the main machine he is trying to "sell" you,the gas generator, does not make more energy than it takes in to perform the work. Who gives a darn about the torch, yes we know that will work, what about running the stinkin car on water!!.. well I have rambled again.. sorry.

That could be debatable. There are vehicles out there capable of running on water!

Change the word engine to motor, I can run a motor 24/7/365 using water. Simple gravity.
