Just wondering.....does anyone else have a 3000 series that the hourmeter seems to rack up the hours in excess? I have a 3520 that seems to rack up the hours a lot quicker than my old X595. Both use a digital hourmeter and both, of course, have Yanmar engines. Sitting at an idle and watching the hourglass blink on and off, on and off, it racks up the hours quicker than the X595 did. What's up with this?

Oh, and before anyone mentions it, I do use the 3520 more than I did the X595 but still.....

I guess the thing to do would be to actually time it. Use the tractor for an hour and see what it registers.

I am not sure on your tractor and your digital meter, but most of the analog meters, like on my kubota, dot register 1 hour for each hour of use. It is based on RPM (tach driven). And 1 hour of use registers 1 hour ONLY IF the tractor is at PTO RPM the entire time. Over PTO RMP registers hours faster, and under or at idle registers hours MUCH SLOWER.

My PTO RPM is ~2400. My tractor Idles ~600. So for every hour of idleing, it only shows .25hrs on the meter.

Theory of Operation:
The hour meter is integrated into the display panel and
does not have any external wiring. The hour meter
operates only when the engine is running. The hour meter
uses the engine tachometer circuit to indicate that the
engine is running. If the tachometer is not functioning, the
hour meter will not work.

My 3520 hour meter seems to match exactly with how much use I give it. I, too, use it much more than I did my last OS tractor so the hours are adding up fast.

Thanks fellas,

Guess what I'm after is confirming or checking the calibration of mine. I'll actually time mine the next time I'm running the PTO at speed for an extended period of time.

Just seems the hour glass is blinking quite often at an idle, which by the way on my tach is just under 1000 rpms when the engine is warmed up. Seems a little high to me.
