The magnet idea is pretty good, since it would be a rather cold and unpleasant task to do right now. We are expecting lows in mid single digits by week's end. We are also expecting 12" of snow on Wednesday, on top of the 5 we got this morning.

I just came in to warm up from plowing for over an hour. I have a dealer installed, (assumes Kubota) block heater. Gotta have it up here.

I've never heard of a magnetic heater? Sounds easy enough though?

Pricey to buy? Use?

I googled magnetic block heater and got 72,000 hits. The first 10 showed some sources and prices.

I installed a heater hose heater in our 1973 220D. It worked great on a -22 F morning in Vermont.

Found mine in the JC Whitney catalog. They're on line now; I think.

easy and not terribly pricey.

you can use a few of them.. IE.. one on the hyds or common sump, and one on the oil ban.. and block.. plus a trickle charger for the battery.. get a couple cheap timers and use correct extension cables and rated outlets and set it up so that 2 hours before you go out in the morning the heaters and charger kick on.. that gives you a warm topped off battery and warm engine oil, and warmed hyd oil..

I have used magnetic block heaters in the past. They are better than nothing, but only barely.

I don't care how cold it is, put on some rubber gloves & put in a frost-plug heater. It's only 10 minutes of pain and will be a HUGE improvement over a magnetic heater.

I just bought a radiator hose mounted heater today for my tractor. I got it at TSC in Mt Pleasant Michigan It cost $22. and is very easy to install, just cut the hose in half, insert heater, install two clamps and you are done.:D:D

I agree totally!! But depending on the tractor, takes a little more than 10 minutes to install.

I couldn't see any easy access on my tractor for the freeze plug heater. I have a small 3 cylinder engine and there is "stuff" in front of most the freeze plugs, things like the injection pump.:eek:

The Radiator hose heater is rated at 600 watts and I have good access to it on my tractor. It is a "Kat's" brand heater made by five star manufacturing. It will take me longer to drain the coolant and put it back in than it will take to install the heater. :D:D:D

It is odd that it doesn't say where it is manufactured, but the electric cord looks like a good quality domestic product as does the fit and finish of the heater itself.:cool:

I just looked them up on Google. Now I feel al warm and fuzzy!!:D:D:D:D:D

Isn't it great when you tell the quality by just looking at and handling the product!:cool::cool:

I'm glad you were able to get something other than a magnetic heater to work for you.
