And THIS is why the forefathers of the United States could see the potential abuse of any government in power, and thus the reason why we have the second amendment.

The thing is...under martial law there is no second amendment...there is no constitution, there is no bill of rights...they are suspended until martial law is lifted...

As far as massive detainment facilities...they would not be needed...control would be by curfews with zero tolerance.
Under martial law the military has full and complete legislative power...they can make any "law" they want...

So under ML, are guns in the hands of citizens banned? Is there no provision for self defence in very difficult/dangerous times? And if confiscation is the order of the day, how is that to be achieved? If a guy has twenty guns but turns in ten, how would anyone know, without subjecting virtually everyone to at least a little water boarding or maybe truth drugs?

All most of us can do is speculate...logic says the more dire the circumstances the more strict freedoms could become...
"They" (contingency planners) know they could never really disarm the public...in recent instances they have banned any public possession by civilians...likely to start there with zero tolerance...if they really wanted to actually confiscate firearms they would likely use purchase records and concealed carry permit applications to start...long before they would do massive random searches etc...

It's all a worse case scenario that we all hope never occurs...but everyone should at least be aware.

The Canadian Federal Government tried to implement a long arms registry. It was unworkable even with our small gun toting population. They spent untold Billions and finally it was scrapped. Never mind, the out and out criminals out there. It would be very interesting to know what percentage of firearms were ever registered. I am curious if they would look to the old records as a starting point for confiscation.

Just remember (hypothetically) in 45 minutes... all the traffic signals etc. are going to quit working and there will be a lot of disabled vehicles dead in the streets...
