I have been looking at Nortrac's Jinmas (25Hp, 4x4, w/FEL) and have been lurking on this board for a few months. Thanks to all who have posted your thoughts and opinions about these tractors -- most helpful. Special thanks to John for your wonderful and informative site. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

While browsing thru some of the links suggested in this board I came across a Jinma dealer called Emerybuilt in VA -- reasonably close to where I live. I like the idea of having "my" dealer close by in case I run into a challenge with my tractor which is beyond my control.

However, the most important consideration in choosing one Jinma importer over another seems to be in the quality of their assembly -- closely followed by service after the sale. Does anyone have any first hand experience with Emerybuilt Jinmas?

Note: Power Trac advocates -- please do not tell me about the wonders of these machines.. I'm not interested. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

LOL at the pwertrac responce:

as for gary at emery built, (I belive it is gary?) I have heard stuff about them, pretty much all of it good. I have not dealt with him/them personally. If you have a local jinma dealer I would deal with them as any problems will be easier in person. not that I'm expecting any problems /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif but you know how it goes plan for the worst and pray for the best!

gary has been in the jinma business as long if not longer than anybody!! absolutely no worries dealing with emerybuilt! i've never actually had any dealings with him, but i sell them too, and he has been very helpful in every aspect to me, and i have not seen anything but positive comments/feedback on emerybuilt. nothing against northern, at all, but if you are close to a supportive dealer, such as emry, ya' couldn't go wrong i don't think

Thanks Rick, coming from a dealer that's a very strong endorsement. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

BTW, since you are a dealer, what can you tell me about Jinma's new LE series? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It looks like Emerybuilt carries the LE while NorTrac doesn't. Are there any advantages of the LE over the previous models other than cosmetic -- the LE is a good looking machine.

LE Series

Thanks again,

Hey Steve:

I live in Floyd County Virginia. I purchased my 284 4wd with Chinese FEl from Gary in August 2002.

ABSOLUTLEY GREAT GUY!!

He's been there for me for any little issue I had....which was extrememly important for me as I'm not too mechanically inclinded. Unfortunatly, I just sold my JM because I'm relocating. So, just sold it two days ago.

Anyway, I'd go with Gary again....even if I move to MASS and need another tractor. Gary's worth the distance for me to get another JM from him because he went the distance with me in "coaching" me how to trouble shoot my JM.

No worrie with Gary /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Well VA, as you can see from the above post, emey will treat ya' right. The Le is mostly cosmetic, but the electrical system is so much better, it's worth the extra $$ in itself. no more faulty gauges, ignition problems (so far), etc. the one piece dash cluster, spring loaded seat, one-piece hood, one-piece headlamps and turn signals, and the new style rocker switches, and the rounded fiberglass fenders with a different design in the rear is the most definitive differences. mechanically, they are no different. but! they can be ordered to cheaper specs, so not all Jinmas are created equal!
Jinma just came out with the shuttle shifts, and i almost ordered a few. That was the last discussion i had with gary at emerybuilt. i know he ordered some, as well as affordable in texas. with them being a little new, i decided to hold off til maybe all the bugs are worked out. of course, shuttle may not be right for everybody either, depending on what your needs and desires of the tractor are going to be.

I have purchased two tractors from Gary and currently have the LE Model. He is a good guy and easy to deal with. Whenever I needed something he was always available. If you live nearby I would certainly recommend Emerybuilt.

Though I havn' done business with emory built.. I hear they have a quality of equipment/fit/finish about that of northern hydraulics... thus they also have prices similar to northern hydraulics... ( higher than many of the smaller economy importers ). That said.. If I had the choice of two higher jinmas.. and one was from a local source.. that would be my bet.

On the other hand, The whole concept behind a chinese tractor is money savings.. but then.. I don't mind getting my hands greasy turning a wrench.. if you are.. then a hands on service dealer is the way to go..

Thanks guys! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Your responses have been most helpful and reassuring. I will be contacting Emerybuilt to price out what I want to compare with Nortrac.

Thanks again,

I bought a Nortrac from Northern Tools. We have a store locally. The pick up price was over 1000 cheaper than the catalog price. I have called the toll free number for some questions and the sent me some free hoses and such. Over$100 worth of products free. I have also had a couple items that needed to be replaced, I had them within three days. Couldn't ask for better service.

Ron, thanks, that's very valuable information. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I also have a local Northern store -- I hadn't bothered to check with them assuming their price would be the catalog price.

Does your local store offer service? Based on Nortracs literature I assumed (gotta stop doing that I guess /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif) that the local stores don't offer tractor service.

Glad this board is here to help a newbie like me. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Wow.. if we had a local store.. I would have one of those tractors... I almost ordered one about 4 years ago.. I was on the phone getting a freight quote with lift gate and everything.. added 1000$ to the price if I wanted it.. ( I got a NH instead... )..

Northern Tool is offering FREE SHIPPING on most of their models in the current catalog...

I still wouldn't mind having a local Northern Tool store though!

I would call Gary my only farm tractor equipment dealer. He has a first class tractor assembler working for him. I have spoken to the assembler over the phone. The tractors Gary imports from China arrive in crates. Gary's mechanic put my tractor together and there have been no problems with that end of the deal. I have owned one of Gary's imported 20 hp Emerybuilt LE for over 5 years. It was purchased new and assembled on site in Gary's shop. I have had no problems to speak of with the tractor. But if i did have a problem, I feel totally secure with Gary's expert service, advice and parts.

I'd been thinking that the new "LE" versions are the ones that include shuttle shift, or give the choice of shuttle or creeper gearing. No?
