Electric problem

I have a 4000 series compact tractor, if you try and operate it correctly it will start but when you puy it in gear or use the PTO it quits. I jumped the seat switch and it is fine, replaced the switch and same problem Any help?? Thanx

That's a safety feature, It will only allow one to start when the PTO is disingaged or in neutral or park. I'm sorry...I misread the question. If it quits after it is running, I don't really have a clue. But I would suppose that the safety feature is mis-wired. Which you have already figured out.

Check the switch. The original and the replacement.
Looks like you have a bad replacement or bad wire between the point you placed the jumper and the switch. After all a functioning switch is a jumper. KennyV.
