edit settings ... member type?!?!

i went to change my location (as i have moved) and i edited the one field (location) went to save and it gave me an error... must enter a member type?

huh? member type what the hel is that?

so i go back to settings and figure out what "member type" is... oh look there is a drop down box.... great i dont like any of the options and futhermore I am uninclined to pick any of them in the first place.

so either give me an "other" option. or dont require it. otherwise ill just keep the wrong location and still have no "member type" anyway. (as its was never required before)

I know...Why do we even have to have a "member type"...I had to put "homeowner" under mine...I don't own a home since I'm 16...

Hi Guys,

The member type helps us understand the site demographics more. Especially for new members that sign up, we want to know if we see large numbers of a certain type of member that might influence our forum/content organization at some point.

Having a custom field wouldn't work since that would result in hundreds of different types and sort of defeat the purpose of summarizing the broad member types.

What other types would you suggest that we don't currently have?

I dont consider myself a SINGLE ONE type of anything. (other than male?)

To quote from a movie i enjoy

"I am disinclined to aqueous to your request"
to provide more information for the soul purpose of you being able to make your site demographics available to your advertisers so you can generate more add revenue.

Like i said, it was never required before and your database is going to continue to show a LARGE population of active users on the site as "null" and therefor no help to the demographics money grub anyway.
