Re: Ecstatic with the purchase - ZD326H 72" deck

Looks like the Carlisle WT300 comes in 26" and 18" only.

I know....if they came as 24x12x12, I'd replace my turf tires on my F3680 with them. May anyway, but trying to get advice from anyone about using 26 on the F is like pulling eye teeth.

If its 4wd or AWD drive you would want to increase the rear tire tires by the same ratio as circumference . Or you risk damaging the gear box. circumference is on the or order of R^2

And it is.

I have read, in these size tires...and ATV/UTV tires....the size stamped on the tire doesn't exact agree to to the measurements the tire come out to. One brand of 24x12x12 may have different dimensions of other brands, as an example. Shouldn't be that way, but it is.

Realized that i was confusing area for circumference. Yes tires vary by manufacturer but 26 in tires are nominally 8% larger in circumference. I believe on 4wd tractors the front turn slightly faster to allow the front end to climb up onto the surface also why they tell you not to use it at road speed in the manual. Im not sure how this compares on the f mowers. Is the awd on demand on the mower?

It in an awd, a weak kind of turf saver 4wd all the time. You can flip in to a true 4wd on demand.

The Carlisle AT101 is a good mild lug tire that comes in a 24-12x12.

Yes I've seen those tires first hand. I just don't like the looks of that tire. Awful lot of space between the threads that to me can make the tire vulnerable. The WT300 doesn't give me that impression.

I could not be happier with the AT101s I put on my ZTR. They are softer than the R4s and but have a lot of traction. They were a dramatic improvement over the Turfs that I had on it for many years - made a whole new mower out of it - especially on slopes.

What ZTR? How heavy is it? Did you find you could side hill slopes that you could not before getting the AT101s?

I come close to putting those on the ZD326 I had before this F3680. Actually this F series is doing what i need it to do...., and is 100% better than the ZTR, but I have got it stuck in mud, wasn't the machine, it was the tires. So still toying with the idea of switching tires.

I may be missing something.....but. More rubber on the ground gives more traction on dry ground. Racing slicks have no tread to get more traction. But drag racers don't race in the mud, that's a different type race and mud racers want the biggest space possible between tire lugs. What am I missing? I've owned many Kubota tractors and mowers and even a RTV. For mowers I want turf tires with the most rubber on the ground. For RTV with mixed use I want bigger space between lugs for the sometimes run thru the creek bed. For tractors (with FEL and rear implements) I want heavy duty side walls and better traction for off mowed yard work so I buy the I(R)4 tires.
I to have gotten my F3080 stuck one time in a swamp area at the back corner of my rental mostly flat land, that's right, once, since I know the turf tires become like balloons in slimy slick swamps so I stay away from that one small spot on my F and now my ZD326. At home on the dry ground hillsides and dry woods trails I think I want the turfs because of them having the most rubber on the ground for the best traction on the dry ground.
I do see and understand the desire for different tires for different ground but for dry yard mowing I'm believing I or others are confused. JC, I agree that you need different tires for mowing wet areas or chains or something or stay away from it on your F with turf tires.:D Maybe make a ditch like depression across the wet edge of the pond and then straddle the wet ditch.
