In the intrest of 'full-disclosure', I worked for these folks some 40 years ago! In fact, I drew the drawings for the patent office when this was a 'basement', fledgling company(?). They're now a multi-million dollar industrial tool manufacture.

I have absolutely no vested intrest in them! (Unfortunately) :(

OK, That's out of the way! About the only thing I did manage to end up with is a Dyna-File II. I don't know how I live without it. Today, I burned holes that needed to be 1" dia in 1/4" plate. Got close, and then finished them up with the DF-II. The only reason I bring this up, is I use it daily, when fabricating, and being and industrial tool, folks may not know such a tool exists! . Pricey? Yep! But I've seen them on E-Bay, etc. Do some Googling. Here's one link to wet your apetite. ~Scotty
PS- I just looked a e-bay myself for belts. Note these come in air&electric

How is this air sander going to make the hole any larger?

Would it not be simpler to drill out in larger sizes till a 1 inch bit with a half inch shank can be used. Or get it close then use a die grinder, far less expensive than that air sander.

Perhaps I didn't explain myself properly. This is a belt grinder that's configured to get into spots that other types of tool just can't get into. In the hole example, you stick the nose of the tool into a hole as small as 1/2" and grind the edge as desired. Your idea certainly works, just thought I'd identify a tool that I love, to folk that don't even know such thing exist. ~S

How is this air sander going to make the hole any larger? This is not a "sander"! It will remove mild steel stock, nearly as quick as an angle grinder.

.

The guys in the machine shop at work have a couple of them. Very handy; so I bought a $40 imitation fr Horrible Fright a couple of years back. It's nowhere's near as beefy or powerful. But as you say, sometimes it's the only thing that fits.
