DX 29

I’m looking for a CUT with a MM rear discharge mower with a HST. The Case-IH dealer thinks the DX 29 will fit the bill. He has none in stock for me to look at, but is willing to bring one in for me to test. Of course he has no prices and can’t get any on a Saturday. So, does anyone else out there have one? Is it good or bad? Would you buy again? But he was also pushing a McCormick tractor that he has in stock. 38 horse, 4WD shuttle shift, mid PTO for $13500. But did not know about MM a rear discharge mower for that tractor. I’m just looking for opinions. I’m new to the compact world.

Case DX29 is essentially the same tractors as the New Holland TC29. Both are made by Case-New Holland corp. These are generally considered top end quality machines. It is a middle weight tractor and handles a mid mount finish mower very nicely. I don't know your soil conditions, but any tractor can rut your lawn in some conditions, the more it weighs the worse the ruts. As a mid-weight tractor, you'd want to keep it off the grass after a good rain. We have several members who use TC29s here on TBN but I can't recall if anyone has the DX29 version. For mowing, the HST transmission is probably the most efficient as it allows for easy speed adjustments while mowing around plants, planter beds or up against structures. The 29 will handle a 72" mower deck. One of the tractors I use is a TC24, which is the little brother of what you are looking at, it is my favorite tractor, but it is not as nice as the 29.
