Mostly it will be behind my duramax. But I built it smaller so my kubota could handle it. I have a L2900GST

Good idea one trailer fits all, your tractor about same has mine and I wouldn't think twice hauling 2 yards of gravel. your Duramax might start straining on 4 yards....

My ton truck tailgate is hinged at the top and bottom. I can hinge it at the top and dump out the bottom but most stuff gets stuck that way. 99.9 percent of the time I leave it flat or a notch above flat and dump over the top of it. With the chains vs a cable like a pickup tailgate I can hold it in any position I want. IMG_8532.JPG

Wow, great job. I could be wrong, but isn't it better to buy a new one than to make it yourself? After all, it takes so much time and effort to create something, as well as money.

I liked the challenge of building it. So far I have less than 400$ in the whole project. I saved the dump hoist out of my truck and already had axles. I really like the ideas of the chains to have adjustments.

My down time I always like to tinker. Over the years I’ve worked at several farms and like the idea of building it myself. Worked beside many crafty farmers that have worked on and maintained their equipment. THe knowledge that these guys have had is amazing. These were the generation that built and started most of the factories in this area.

Nice trailer build !!!

I can dump mine from the tractor seat. Tail gate hinges on both the top and bottom. The top can be released by hand so the tailgate folds down or there is a lever on the front of the trailer I tie a rope to. Pull it to unlatch the bottom of the tailgate so it swings on the top pins. I can also totally remove the tailgate. A couple pics - one shows the lever and the other the rod underneath to the bottom latch.

Here is a video from a few years ago dumping this load from the tractor seat.

Almost looks like your making serious headway now. Are the sideboards removable and looks like tail gate is going to swing open top or bottom? Looking good so far but remember you have 3 million people watching you build this trailer, no pressure............

It’s been a long day but the floor is in. Ran out of bolts lol. Need one more row across the floor and then bolts to bolt the front boards on. The plan is to have the side boards removable. Tomorrow is wiring then it will be loaded with firewood for it’s maiden voyage.

That's a rugged trailer !! I like the way you did the side boards. Mine come on and off as one panel and can be a little awkward if I don't have help around.
