On the T233, T273, and T293, which all have frames you don't have to "split" the tractor. That term is used for the non-frame tractors, and the engine/transmission are the longitudinal structure of the tractor. On the T233, you take off the hood, and pull the engine. At least, I think that is what the local independent tractor mechanic did when he replaced the drive shaft on my T233.
