If I remove the drawbar and replace with chain will my 3 point landscape rake float ? My property is very rough, no way can I lift and lower constantly trying to use the rake.

Are you talking about the top link? The upper arm of the 3 point? If so, yes, a chain will allow the rake to float. However it does not weigh very much and it will be slow at smoothing your dirt.

Yes, top link, A County Line Landscape Rake, 5'- 195 LBS

A cheap option that might work as well as your landscape rake. Make a DRAG. Mine is home made and towed(unweighted) with my ATV. When weighted( 400# concrete cube ) - it's towed with my tractor.

Round & round I go. After a few passes - even the roughest field is smooth. I use it with the teeth down or teeth up. I also have a land plane grading scraper (LPGS) with scarifiers that does well at smoothing and leveling.

The weight of the rake and the curve of the tines are enough to dig in and pull dirt ... loose dirt.

The advantage here is that if the nose of the tractor rises, it won't force the rake tines down like will happen with a rigid top link.

My yard is horribly uneven and off level. After I did some digging and had some fill dropped, I went to work with the rake. After the first few passes with a rigid top link, it was almost worse than before I started. As the nose rose and fell, so did the rake, digging in and leaving high spots of loose fill.

Switched to a chain and the difference was noticeable on the first pass. Yes, it took quite a few passes to get it anywhere near smooth, but it was clear that wouldn't have happened at all without the chain.

Are you all leaving the chain loose when in the down position to accomplish this?

I need to mention, main reason for rake is, last winter ice storm took down a couple large trees and hundreds of limbs on our 5 acres. I have cleaned up the trees and large limbs but still have a ton of small limbs, bits and pieces, 2"diameter x 24" long and smaller.
