Got a drippy drain plug and have replaced the copper sealing washer but still drips. What is the recommended limit for tightening this plug? thanks to all.

Coat the threads with hi-temp silicone sealant, carried by all autoparts stores.

35#'s if I remember correctly. I always use a new washer and give it a small bead of sealant, (**** retentive I know). But I've never had a leak.

There's an o-ring on mine in a groove at the top of the threads, and there is a corresponding groove in the pan for it to fit into. I just give it a good tug with a 3/8 ratchet, maybe 25 ft lbs?

I see in the parts book a 'packing' was used on the earlier series.

Possibly you could use the later drain plug and o-ring.
