Recently recieved two sets of chains front and rear off another tractor from my brother-in-law. They are to big for my 1720 both in length and width. Can you downsize tractor chains and if so how? Thought I would start asking now instead of waiting until November besides that can't have anything disrupting grouse season.
Thanks,
Al

Alan we often make chains shorter to fit smaller diameter tires but never would I look to narrow a set up. That would mean all the cross chains need to be shortened and would be very labor intensive. It can be done but used chains are cheap and new ones aren't to expensive but to play on the part that wears the most the cross chains I would look for somebody with a set to small to trade with.
