Are you suggesting a strap-on?

YES SIR...!!!!! Strap one onto any part of his body that sticks out, would be fine for me. Should also be made that it zap's the sucker every time anything on his property barks..... The dog barks to get the owners attention, so I think zap'n him would help the process.....

As I indicated earlier, they can learn to get along but in your case it would take a very good neighbor. Mine learn to just lay down and let him maul them, which works as long as I'm there to referee when he gets too rough. The down side is that if another dog, fox, or coyote comes around they won't know to run; I lost most of my flock to a fox one day last year. You might try the "invisible fence" instead.

An actual "invisible fence" wouldn't be practical where we live. For 42 acres it would likely be a tad expensive, huh! :D That's why I was asking if an E-collar can simulate an "invisible fence" using a function that would automatically activate the E-collar based on distance between transmitter and E-collar. In effect a 24/7 wireless fence. The Lab wouldn't need to learn anything about chickens only about distance boundary, neighbor involvement unnecessary.

Then there is the issue of BARKING! That can piss a lot of people off all at once!
I do not discipline my dogs for barking. Half the reason to have a dog in my opinion is so they will bark when they hear something abnormal. In WA state we have private tidelands and the dogs will Raise Cain if someone is on the beach. Exactly what I want. How they distinuish human footsteps from wave action and all the sea life noise, I do not know, but they do.

^^^ If you aren't home to hear them barking all day long, then how can you justify it? I once rented an upstairs apartment, where the woman downstairs wouldn't allow her new boyfriend to bring his Lab retriever inside. All night, every night that he visited I was kept awake from that poor pup's barking, literally underneath my bedroom window. I don't know how they didn't hear him, except that they tied him out so that he was on the other side of the apartment from where they slept.

Not an issue. My wife is home all day and the dogs are inside with her sleeping towards their prescribed 18 hours a day.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

So now we have not seen these dogs for a couple days. Problem may have solved itself.

You - out east there atsah- feel, for some reason, that they must be killed. That's OK with me - that is totally your choice.

Lots of people around the country hunt them, not just people in the east, they have no predators other than man and need to be controlled, if all people did is hunt there prey the top of the food chain predators get out of control, hence the reason someone killed 27 of them and it made no difference, and why it is open season year round in most places to harvest them.. We have packs here of thirty, very common.. It's a pretty popular sport here, the pelts are worth some money so they don't go to waste.. Same story in AK with wolves and I think since they introduced wolves in some of the western states they are needing to do the same..

Two days ago my 88 year old great aunt called and said the neighbors dogs had got into her garbage again. I went to her house and the trash service had already stopped and helped her pick it up. This is the third time I know of that this has happened.
She became so upset she had a seizure and had to be taken to the hospital in the ambulance. At the time I didnt know what was the matter with her, she has heart problems and is fighting stage 4 cancer.
Called the county attorney the next day and informed him that do to his lack of concern on my previous talk with him my aunt was in the hospital and I was going to call the local tv news and have them come down. He was all over it after that. Said he would contact the dogs owner and handle it and if that didnt work he would take him to court.
My aunt is home and the dogs are nowhere to be seen.
Time will tell.

"shoot the dog"...reminded me of this joke:

A man walked into his back yard one morning and found a gorilla in a tree. He called a gorilla-removal service, and soon a serviceman arrived with a stick, a big dog, a pair of handcuffs and a shotgun.

"Now listen carefully," he told the homeowner. "I'm going to climb the tree and poke the gorilla with the stick until he falls to the ground. The trained dog will then go right for his, uh, sensitive area, and when the gorilla instinctively crosses his hands in front to protect himself, you slap on the handcuffs."

"Got it", the homeowner replied. "But what's the shotgun for?"

"If I fall out of the tree before the gorilla", the man said, "shoot the dog."

Interesting that many of you talk about the dog catchers not doing anything for you. I've only called once, when a woman's dog got loose and killed one of my chickens. When I told her, she didn't seem to care and gave no effort to try and get her dog back. I called the dog catcher. By the time he arrived, the woman got some other people to get her dog for her and she agreed to pay for my lost chicken. I let the dog catcher know things were resolved when he arrived. He said, "They may be with you, but not with me!" He proceeded to issue her tickets.

My brother once had somebody come onto his lawn, take his dog and turn it in to the animal control officer. He had to pay a fine to get it back.

Generally speaking, if trash is stored in a garbage can, sealed, most dogs (and pretty much all other animals) won't bother with it. I've got to ask, how does your great aunt store her trash outside?

You brother is either a pusswack or there is way more to this story than you're letting on;)
You are implying that my brother might have been in the wrong!?!?! How dare you!!!
Although I believe him when he said that it was on his lawn when it was taken, I've often wondered if perhaps it had previously been out in the road.
Then again there are a lot of people out there who feel that they know better than I do what's best for my dog; SL it could go either way.
