Found today at a gas station.

Long story from the girls at the gas station, but someone dumped him off. He reminds me of my Ella, same situation at a gas station I came across in 2004.

He's in my fenced in area right now, going to the shelter tomorrow.

Long story with this guy that I have no clue about, but he's a keeper IMO for the short time being with him.

If anyone is interested around NC, I'll cover the vet bills and have him neutered before he goes to you, and I need a vacation, so I'll even drive him to you (I figure most guys here on this website who are actually looking for a dog would be a "qualified owner").

Guy is a loving dog, likes to be around you.

Biggest advantage is you get to meet me! :ROFLMAO:

Hey, I get the fact that I can come across as a butthole from time to time on a internet forum, and given it some thought, I think my work signature tag line should be kind of like...

"I'm like beer, an acquired taste. Not pleasant at first, but the more you get to know me, the more I'm pretty OK" ;)

Doing something I feel worthwhile doing. I don't need likes, I need someone looking for what appears to be a good dog(y)

If someone commits to wanting him, I'll do the vet from head to toe, and keep him for a month like we used to do in our old days, to find out his habits so you're well informed on his personality to ensure he's a good fit.

Generally speaking, I trust guys here more than anyone I would trust on facebook (the girls at the gas station told me they took pics and put his pic up on looking for a home). The issue is, it does a domesticated animal no good to go to a owner who has no right having kids because they're treated like crap.

I have 6 giant dogs, a barking cat, dog sit a Beagle (was a stray) during the week. Unknown number of barn cats and host of other critters. After a couple more old dogs pass, I'll be ready for another but not now.
Still think you are doing a good thing and never thought bad of you. Opinionated yes but aren't we all?

Down to 4 dogs now and 2 cats. All came into our life as strays.

My wife and I are trying to downsize, and we our blue tick hound (also a stray) died recently.

We use to work as foster parents with the humane society before we went to legged animals vs 4 legged animals.

For better or worse, I'll always give the benefit of a doubt to a dog over a man. Men have choices to make, generally speaking, dogs do not.

Dog was skittish, and another woman helped me.

The other week, I've been seeing a young guy on the highway walking a dog without a collar or lead, and he has a bugger of of time making that dog walk with him off the road. When we went out the day I saw him (seen him more than a couple of times around town before that), stopped and picked up a lead and collar to give to him for his dog.

Haven't seen him yet, but kept the lead and collar in the truck this morning just in case I did see him to wash the truck, and I thought it was my God giving me a sign to do the right thing since I had the lead and collar.

I'll make a donation to the shelter, and if they ever come close to putting him down, I'll ask them to call me, and I'll see about trying to talk to the wife into fostering him.

He really does seem like a great dog.

Dealing with strays, you have some that are smart and don't trust humans, and this guy is dumb and trusts people. THAT goes a long way with me when a dog is content to be with you.

Besides that, it looks like your about a 13 hour non stop drive from me. Not sure how I feel about that, but hey, I'd do it if you said yes ;)

We see plenty of dumped dogs out here in the sticks, that beagle was one. He likes people and the big guys said he was ok to stay. Now my grandson's dog we have both of them during the week to keep an eye on.
Most strays don't pass the pack test and have to go before one of mine puts them down for going after farm animals.
I got 2 Anatolian pups after my house dog passed and that stray this year. The pups are 6 months and ~60# now, 4 Great Pyrenees mixes (Anatolian and Karakachan) and we feed over 50# pounds a week right now.

Likewise on dumped dogs out in our area as well.

A very long time ago when my wife became the president of our county humane society (local, nothing to do with advertisements on TV), the "local saying" was that any president of our local humane society would always get animals dumped off at their home for some reason.

We were at some function on the first or second day when my wife was introduced as the new county humane society president, and my wife wasn't happy with me, but I told people at that function that if I caught ANYONE dumping animals off at our home, I would put a F***ing bullet in the back of their head, and I would go to jail for it gladly (sometimes you need to add the curse words to make if effective to 2 legged animals LOL).

Although my wife wasn't happy with what I told people, go figure, not once was a dog left on the side of our road by our house.

THIS is why I like dogs better than people. You know exactly where you stand with a dog for the most part.

Agreed I prefer most animals to people these days.

July 4th flag bandana and a nap in the kitchen chair. She learned how to "gimme four" and now plops her paw on the table when she wants to shake hands. Fresh GI haircut for the heat but she's normally an adorable field Springer. Smarter than many people I know.

My 13 yr old lab has never once brought up politics.
I have 6 LGD and there are plenty of politics, who is first, who gets to kill the intruder (big fights), you are chasing my cat. This calf, rabbit, kitten belongs to me.,.... on and on and on.

No good deed goes unpunished.

Dog I picked up will have to be put down.

Picking him tomorrow, will spend 4 days with me, then take him to the vets for that last ride on Saturday.

Guy, although small in size, does not play well at all with other dogs and the shelter confirmed it.

Sorry to hear that, I see it a lot. The pack will tell me who can or cannot stay.

We're a little different there;)

Interesting dog, and out of all the dogs I've worked with, never have seen this type of behavior.

Severe anxiety complex when you leave the dogs presence (when I left him in the fence, tied off just so he can't escape). I've see that trait before, but never in a "loving happy go lucky dog" .

Dog was very "happy" to see me at the shelter, jumped right into the car. Kind of all over me.

Listens, and is very controllable 1 on 1 or even 2 or 3 on one with humans.

Throw another dog into the mix in his presence, and forget it.

Thing I've learned about dogs is that since they can't talk, you really have no clue as to their history.

Reality is he would make a good one dog owner very happy, but it's Russian roulette if he were ever to come into contact with another dog/animal. Only good thing is he weighs no more than 30 or so pounds soaking wet, he's very easy to control and pin with his collar if he goes off on another dog.

The shelter convinced me that being in a fenced in area with cold water and shade would be better for his last couple of days with us then the shelter environment, and probably happen to agree.

Sounds to me like a new pup or new baby was introduced into his old family and he did not like that he was suddenly less important. Some people have a way of loving the new and putting the old to the side because it's not shiny anymore. Then the family decides that his behavior is too much, and they abandon him. (****bags)

Now when he sees another dog, he gets really jealous. He does not want to lose his new family to that dog, and when left alone he fears abandonment all over again.
