My poor 15 year old pup’s rear legs are getting so weak that she sits to eat.

While mine all lay down to eat, I have one in a similar state. He still get around but the back end give him trouble. Like trying to fall down stairs and not getting under him when getting off the couch.... Same stuff every time, as they age. He is 11 and about 130#

My sympathies, they never ever live long enough. I should have one more generation of dogs in me, can't imagine life without few around.

Last year I lost both my female Mastador (black lab/mastiff ) and my cat to cancer. Commercial pet food??? Who knows, but my wife now cooks fresh meals for our animals now.
But then we were blessed in finding a new born pup. This is Millie, now one years old. A female boxer/mastiff.

With some dogs as their back legs get weak, setting their food dish up higher (on something) helps a lot.

We did that for our old girls last 4 years.

Springer Spaniels are born to hunt close and stay close and mine sure does. She rarely lets us out of her sight.

Here she is peering from her nap on her special cover on the bed. She's looking through the doorway on an angle to keep an eye on us. Look close.






Later we were outside pruning something on front and only after a while did we realize we were being observed from the dining room inside. She's not allowed in there but the desire to stay close is stronger than the risk of being caught. No fooling her.






She's a small dog and only weighs 36 lbs despite trying all we could to help her grow. It hasn't slowed her down any. Puppy photo below and current one keeping watch in the kitchen.
