My previous dog, Lab+Mastiff, didn't like to be washed/bathed at all. Eventually got her to accept it (I'm more stubborn). Found a great way to do a quick, partial clean is to use a bucket and just drop their legs, one at a time, to clean up/off. Mostly paws and legs that get muddy. One can use warmer water.
Current dog/puppy (Lab+Mastiff+Pit) gets massively dirty/muddy: she might like water more than our ducks! I tether her (very short leash/tie) to our deck railing and hose her off. She tolerates it. Biggest struggle is in drying her off. She's a bag of squirrels (with big teeth)!
