Does the searchy search use character limits?

I was trying to search, titles only, for "fan" or "cab fan". And got garbage results. More complex searches get good results. Does the search function have a character limit? In the meantime, I'll just go ahead and post my question in the customization forum. Would totally make sense if there if a character limit depending on how everything is hosted.

Yeah, the search tool here has an awful time with 3-letter words. Gets better with 4-letter, and very good with 5-letter or more.
