Not thinking, I bought my fuel last July and this past December's continuous nights at 20 below gelled the fuel. I recovered soon enough by adding a couple gallons of kerosene to the 14 gallon tank, and a salamander pointed at the tractor for an hour or so; (also dropped the filter and added some 911).

When I called my dealer and told him what I'd done and asked for recommendations, he went all bonkers about the kerosene. He said it would score the injectors and I had to use the proper additive that had lubricant in it (which I did that day).

But it begs the question: Doesn't the Winter mixed fuel you buy have kerosene in it? Do they add the magic sauce to provide lubrication? What's in the stuff anyway?

Was told by injector and pump company to use Stanadyne Lubricity Formula for my diesel truck because fuel nowadays is to dry. I began doing same in tractors as an injector lubricant. Works for me./

The manual for my LS3039H, (Mitsubishi S4L2 engine) states that down to 5 deg F, 100% winter fuel. At lower temperatures, 20% kerosine. So, I don't see the dealers objection.

Typically, local blenders in cold weather states will put in additives to lower cloud point of the fuel.

I've never had any issues with local fuel oil here in SW Michigan. I just make sure I have winter blend on hand for the winter months. I've never used any other additives.

First of all - if a couple is two (as I tell my wife) and you had 12 gallons of summer diesel I think your fine, plus you added 911
Contains Slickdiesel Lubricator to protect fuel pumps and injectors from increased wear caused by Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD) fuel
so you should be fine.

The danger is if you run it on straight kero without added lubricity.

They might add some extra lubricity to their winter blend.

But from naptha to tar it all comes from the same source, it's just how high up it's pulled off and the processing to remove sulfur. It's not like they add sheep oil (fluid film).

We used to run jp5 in diesel engines when i was in the service. Jp5 is basically a high grade kerosene. I've heard that way up north say alaska or someplace similiar, the use kerosene and mix a little 2 cycle oil in to provide lubricant.

Doubt it would score the injectors. If your HP fuel pump is a poor design that has metal-to-metal contact between the impellers, the low lubricity could be a problem. Doubt very many HP fuel pumps allow the opposing impellers to actually touch (can do this with external gearing).

If it bothers you, the old method of adding lubricity was to put a quart of ATF into a tankful (typically maybe at least 17 gallons of fuel). Even dino ATF is very highly refined and has very few additives to mess with anything.

Kerosene is the recommended LUBRICANT

for my Old Singer sewing machine.

It must work, the machine is nearly 100 years old, and still works as new.

I can't remember what like new was with my car which I bought new 15 years ago and now has 517,000 miles. I don't know what a machine that is a hundred years old would be like new as I am only 57 years old. ;-)

To really add lubricity to Diesel Fuel, just add some ASHLESS 2 stroke outboard oil to the tank. I used something like 1L two-stroke oil to 100L Diesel. Most of the other stuff is snake oil. I am doing this up here all the time, as our fuel is almost like water.

You have a Kubota. Japanese diesel tends toward the thinner (kerosene) end of the distillate.
