Does Deet work ?

Deet is about the only thing that works -- Once you get past about 28% deet, the rest is just a waste. Deet in that concentration or thereabouts lasts about as long as deet will and repells as well as higher concentrations. If you look on the Center for Disease Ccontrol website or Ontario Ministry of Health under West Nile you will find real research results on repellants -- I usethe Watkins Creme or Deep Woods OFF and they both seems to work for everything but Deerflies - for those I use a hat patch

here in md, our mosquitos are terrable and you can still buy 100 percent deet. its called repel 100. works great!!!!

Clearing brush up at our place in the Northern Hudson River Valley a few weeks ago the main problem was ticks and the occasional deer fly. I used the Repel 100 which I would just squirt a couple of sprays on the back on my neck and and my arms and a bit on my pants and spread it around. I think I came home with one tick the whole two weeks, despite clearing brush in some heavily infested areas.

I just looked to see how much Deet the Deep Woods Off I was using had - 25% - Brings the Mosquitos in like Perfume !
