Does anyone use fuel additives?

Don't believe it is a blend...

The smallest size is a green 30 gallon drum with all the labels... didn't have my glasses with me.

Also earned how easy it is to collapse a steel drum yesterday.

The dozer was up on the hill and I was not going to bring it down to the house and wreck the road or take the drum to the dozer so Mom was filling two 5 gallon jugs and as she was cranking the pump handle all of a sudden there was a loud boom.... the drum contorted for lack of a better word as no one had opened the vent.

In our location the off-road diesel pumps are marked as having higher sulfur content than the regular diesel...

I went to our local station this morning just to verify what I thought I remembered from earlier fill-ups. Attached is a photograph of the two diesel pumps: the highway diesel states a "15 ppm sulfur maximum" whereas the off-road diesel has a note that it "may exceed 500 ppm of sulfur". Not to start an argument but highway diesel and off-road diesel differ than more than the addition of dye... at least in my area.

Yep that is what the bio-diesel refinery does back here. They make it with more sulfur to give it more lubricity which in turn gives it more cetane as well. Glad you snapped that picture. That's good information. Most of us are from other areas and I'm sure each place has their own ways of making diesel fuel.

Lol kenmac! I do love to see a diesel smoke like **** when it's pulling something. But I am also glad my 2210 doesn't at the same time. If I had the money I would have 2 tractors & have one turned way the **** up so it would smoke like that all the time

The black billowing smokes, makes people more friendly, to more laws and restrictions on diesel.

YA, this is the way I always thought it was, in logging areas. Quite a few people say it is not true, but a picture is worth a thousand words.

The nationwide standard changed to 15ppm after 2014. EPA Diesel Fuel Standards

After 2014, all nonroad, locomotive, and marine (NRLM) diesel fuel must be ULSD, and all NRLM engines and equipment must use this fuel

He just left the old decals on his pumps. Or possibly he hasn't received fresh fuel for over a year.

that's what I understood too.. Everything is low sulfur,( on road & off road) but I couldn't argue with his pic

I can't help it, I go look at the relevant Federal standards before declaring a related opinion. (Retired now, prior 20 years government auditor relying on federal cost accounting standards to review / allow/disallow highway construction cost reimbursement claims.) It's just second nature to find the ultimate authority on a subject if possible.

It has that sticker because it "may" contain up to that amount by law. In reality it probably doesn't cause they do not produce two fuel runs. But there was certain smaller refineries and old stock that lasted until recent with the old fuel and could sell it as offroad. I bet if you had the fuel analyzed it both would be the on road spec.

I could be wrong but I highly suspect that's the case here.

I am a forester. My main job is running loggers on timber sales. The next town from me is a small logging town in Ga. I think there is something like 17 logging crews that run out of the area and there two stations they buy all on and off road fuel from (town of like 3000). Everything is ULSD on and off.

My brother has an old Yazoo 26" mower that came with the property... he was going to toss it and I could see it had been used a lot...

I drained the fuel and replaced the rubber fuel line... got it to run but not well.

Put a once of Sea-foam in the tank and it was purring like a kitten in 5 minutes...

Dickfoster you are right, bio-diesel is a great lubricant, but be careful with adding to much of it. Biodiesel is also a cleaner, if you use to much right away you can plug up your your fuel system. It will clean all the crap out of you lines from the Dino fuel and plug S__t up. Lol

Hence, A little dab'll do ya. It's too hard to get and too expensive to use too much of it anyway. LOL

The link said it was phased out by 2014. I believe it has. But I also believe way before that people were told by people, they were the same. Best thing is go to source, like EPA and actually read it.

Lol dickfoster, it is pricy. One time I had only used Dino fuel for about 8 years and has to take a trip out of state, thank goodness I grabbed an extra fuel filter. I was in Chicago and they had 40% bio blend and I needed to fill up. 100 miles later my filter was plugged. Glad I planned ahead.
